Recently I was advised to practice holding my bow at full draw. The guy telling me this said he would practice holding a 68lb draw for 30 minutes. I'm not even close. Was he yankin' my chain? A half hour sounds like horsepoop.

I've held it for 5 minutes waiting for a deer to give be a good shot. 30 minutes sounds a little like horse hockey.

30minutes. That guy must have a fast clock in his head or is on drugs.

I practice at holding for 1 minute. If you have to hold for more than a few minutes you definitely chose to draw at the wrong time so choose wisely and anticipate movement. Practice like you plan to hunt. It won't hurt trying while aiming at a target. Just concentrate and breath. If you have a good setup hunting you should be able to find a window to draw back.

I practice holding my draw for 1 minute on the last arrow out of the group when I target shoot.

I held for over a minute while trying to shoot my last doe! Fast forward to about 2 minutes.

I'd think the ability to hold it about 2-5 minutes would be plenty. As mentioned, if you need longer, you are drawing at the wrong time. However, in hunting, crazy things can happen. Where I hunt I usually have a lot of doe's around, and when you have that many eyes on you it can be hard to get an opportunity to let it down.

Hey man 30 minutes is the biggest crock of crap I have heard of in my life, If you can hold it for 1-2 or two minutes that is plenty idk any time were your going to be in the stand were you even have to really hold your draw more than 30 seconds. There are times where you might have to more than that, but if that deer is still looking at you after 2 minutes your probably SOL anyways. so yeah if you can hold it for a 1-2 minutes thats better than most, especially if your bow only has 70 percent let-off compared to some of the newer ones tht have 80, i wouldn't worry about a darn thing man.

Sounds like another one of his gags or maybe he said minutes and meant seconds. I know he said minutes because I remember the sound of my jaw hitting the floor.

I don't know for sure. I think I held my 80 lb. Elite for almost a minute 8 times in a row on a water buffalo this fall but I'm sure it was much less than a minute each time. I do know that I can hold the 70 lb. limbs on that bow a lot longer. 30 minutes? I'm not even going to sugar coat it; that guy is full of ****!

I practice for 1:30 seconds. No way I'm (personally) shooting at a deer after that. Actually off the top of my head I can't remember a time when I needed to. 30 minutes? Aint happening.
