I got a little doe on Oct. 7th. Haven't had a shot at anything else since. But my season couldn't be going better. I spent all day today in 2 different ground blinds waiting for deer. Ya know when they came? When I finally quit for the day, was carrying a bag of apples back to the killzone for tomorrow morning, and didn't have my bow with me. So here's what I did today. Sat in the woods from Sunrise to Sunset, didn't kill anything, didn't see anything until after I'd holstered my weapon. But compared to what I could've been doing, it was a great day. So my season is going great!
Horrible and just keeps getting worse. 10 minutes before my 10 day vacation started tonight we have an impromptu meeting and are made aware the plant will be shutting down for 3 weeks ove the holidays. May be canceling my vacation so I can offset the loss. I'm just fortunate I don't have kids to disappoint at Christmas. Hoping this weekend produces something, may be few and far between after.
My season was going well, then it turn great. However it has gone down hill since Nov 02nd. Yea I filled both my tags but I took vacation from Oct 30 to Nov 12, and I have had to yard work and house work. Nah its been GREAT
I'm having a great season. I've introduced my 11 year old son to bow hunting, got to see him shoot his first deer with a bow, spent weekends hunting with him. I've revived my love of bow hunting watching him get fired up about it. I think I'm having more fun now than I ever have. We are having a blast! I don't know how it could get any better. I've also managed to kill 4 deer!
So far decent. Been out 6 times, seen deer 5 times and killed a doe on hunt #4. I'm hoping for a couple more for and maybe a buck if I have a shooter come in.
Outstanding. My first season and I got my first buck down. That's the only shot I've had this year but at least I cashed in. My daughter is getting a bit peevish. She's not had a shot yet at all. Hoping this weekend changes that.
Four tags between my wife and I. First 3 deer were handed to me on a silver platter(including a nice 8 pt dressing over 200 lbs) That last one is tough....come close a few times.
Missed a big one October 18th haven't seen him since but I've seen tons of younger bucks chasing does so maybe he will make his second appearance for the rematch this weekend Sent from my VS930 4G using Tapatalk
I've seen alot of deer but haven't killed anything yet. Have had several does well well within range and a few smaller bucks. I'm picky until later in the season.
Worst season I have ever had, i have logged about 75 hours on stand and haven't had a shot yet... have seen maybe 10 deer. With that being said, it is still great to be able to get out and hunt and enjoy the outdoors.
First season , haven't taken anything yet but enjoying the hell out of it. There's a group of does and One in particular I'm after. They haven't been coming as far up as they were last month so I've been forced to go down after them. They came out on the dam tonight about sixty yards from me with the light starting to go. Tried a couple fawn calls , they weren't to interested. I said screw it "I'm going" Wind was blowing a fair amount, so it help mask the sound as I crept through the tall grass. Stopping and pausing when one looked alerted. Heart was racing, every twig that snapped sounded like a tree fall. I kept thinking am I really doing this? Is this going to happen? I got with in 30 yards and just about readied for the shot, started to stand.......a dog , a mother freaking dog starts going nuts barking a field or two over . 6 white flags. They were real alert and I guess the dog just broke the camels back. I was livid yet excited as hell, that was amazing . An absolute rush.
Slow slow slow. My rest locked up and I missed a doe the opening weekend in Ohio and haven't had a legal deer in range in either state since.
Good season so far. My son tagged his first archery deer a few weeks ago, nice 8 point buck. I filled my buck tag on Thursday, Nov. 7th with a nice 9 pointer. They are really starting to move the past couple of days, so it's time to see about filling my doe tag. If that happens, we will spend the remaining winter prepping some new stand sites, and clearing some much needed shooting and sight lines on some stands we already have set. Also continue moving cameras around to see what's happening, and if we need to tweak some stand placements. Good luck to all in the coming weeks.............and above all, be safe out there!
It's getting better. 8 hunts, 2 kills and rut hasn't started yet! Time to change gears and keep getting it!
