We're about halfway through the off season and I'm pretty bored. I haven't been posting much at all but I've been online quite a bit watching what others are posting and taking care of moderator duties. I don't care much for political discussions or ranting so I don't have much to contribute there.

I had to stop fishing about three weeks ago when the gnats got so bad that being on the water was just unbearable. Once we get consistent summer temperatures I'll get back out on the water.

I dehydrated a batch of deer jerky yesterday. The recipe calls for 1/4 cup of honey but I've been substituting Ghose Pepper Jelly which was good. This time I substituted 1/4 cup of Carolina Reaper Jelly. That turned out really good. I think it would be better if I upped it to 1/2 cup instead.

I almost never cook inside the house but I did break out an old chicken and dumplings recipe and venture back to the cookstove yesterday also. It's one of those "from scratch and takes half a day" recipes that start with cooking a whole chicken along with seasoning and vegetables to make the stock. It turned out really good.

Especially when they are accurate. Everything is absolutely crazy in my world. Nothing huge, just a bunch of annoying life things. Getting all the stress out of the way hopefully just in time for tree stand therapy.

My wife keeps telling me I need to go get tested for Lyme disease. There for a while I was tired all the time and all of my joints hurt, but it seems to have pretty much passed. Now I think I’m just lazy.

Pretty good here. Doing the normal scouting, land improvement, tree stand trimming, food plot things. Trying to get it all done before the bugs are out in full force which won’t be to long from now.

Fortunately for us we don’t have black flies here in the rocky Ozarks and mosquitos are practically non-existent. We do have an over abundance of ticks and chiggers though.

I picked the best day to spend in the woods to find some mushrooms. Plenty of rain, humid, ground temps were up, I walked about 3 hours and found 1.
Going to get some bobber fishing in soon with my son. Hopefully he shows some better interest this year so we can drag an old aluminum boat out and fix it up for trips to the small lakes.

I’ve only set foot in the woods here once and that was to put out cameras on my mineral sites. I try to avoid the woods this time of year. The ticks are insane here.

I’ve never even seen a Morel mushroom. Then again I’ve never looked for them.

I’m really waning to hit the lakes again but the gnat problem is huge. I guess I could use one of the head nets I have to keep them out of my eyes, nose, mouth and ears.

I've been finishing up school, I graduate tomorrow! Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I already have a job, the private practice that I've been interning at made me a damn good offer!

I actually drove up to where I park to go hunting today on my way to my parents. I think my hunting switch was turned on!!! (Not in a meme/perverted way)

You Turkey hunt chief? I went out a handful of times with my buddy to try and get him on a gobbler. Flying Bugs aren’t bad in Sw pa yet, ticks are awful as always. Got cams on mineral sites, be heading to Small Mouth fish up Erie once the bay temps warm up, walleye is in. Plenty of chores to get done b4 hunting season, looking forward to LFTS thread and BSing with every one once again. Been shooting a good bit to get the reps in.

Wonder if you could rig up a fan to blow at you and keep them away. Wouldn’t take much for making a gnat fly in a tornado. I bought my wife a small desk fan that hooks up via usb. She didn’t want it so I use it at my garage workbench.
