I bent a field point and the insert on one of my carbon arrows. I tried removing the insert by heating it in boiling water and couldn't get it to work. I guess, the water wasn't hot enough. What you want to do is screw the field point all the way in and carefully while using a candle heat just the field point. It took about 2.5 or 3 minutes and then with plyers pull field point out and insert out. No damage to the carbon arrow that I can see.

Very nice, thanks for sharing!!! I will be doing this tonight to a couple of my arrows. I never had a good technique for getting the insert out.

I guess I'm to impatient for that. I just take an old drill bit that just fits inside the arrow shaft, remove the nock, slide the drill bit into the arrow shaft and sling that sucker. Two or three good swings and the insert comes right out.

I used the same method LittleChief mentioned and it works like a charm. I'm always leery of applying any type of heat to carbon shafts. Too big of a risk of ruining the shaft with heat.
