I typically let the foliage and surrounding dictate my height - the highest prob 30-35 ft in the winter when trees are bare

Highest than I can remember is last year I was up 29' to my feet. That's about 9' higher than normal for me.

Anything over 20' is too high IMO. Kill zone shrinks.

I am pretty scared of heights, so anything over 20ft is pretty high for me. I typically go 18-20ft up.

Yep, you get too high and those close shots are tuff. Not much in the way of vitals to aim at.

I've never had the need to go any higher than 21 feet.

well on most occasions I sit around 18-20 feet but i feel comfortable sitting up to 30 feet if conditions are right. I have one stand currently at 27 or so and since 95% of the deer come thru at 25 yards or so the angle isn't too big to take away from the kill zone.

15' - 20' to the feet has always been plenty for me.

I feel comfortable around 18 feet or so. I did however get up to around 25 feet last year on a few hunts due to the terrain features/background cover. It did the trick as I had deer all over me for the two days that I hunted the spot.

I'm usually at 18-20' but there is one place I hunt where I have to get up 30' because of the terrain.

As high as the terrain calls for. I have been 35 feet up a tree, but only 20 feet higher than my prey at times. By the same token, I've been 10 feet up a tree and 18-20 above my prey. The highest, I used to have a set on a property that I used to hunt that pushed 40 to the bottom of the tree. It was on a field edge that dropped off and the tree I was in was off the edge a bit.
