I built 4 hang on stands out of 1" square tubing, and they are HEAVY! I built them for comfort, not mobility. The seats are 12"x18", and the platforms are 24"x24". I'm done building stands though, not worth it in my opinion.

heavy is not good. The one im building is 24"x34" platform with a 10"x12" seat. The whole finished project should weight about 15-17lbs. Since i built it out of aluminum i figured that was pretty light.

I've got some built by a manufacturer no longer in business (deceased, I believe) that one of my buddies who comes in and hunts with me calls my "postage-stamp stands"... they're small, but they come in around a whopping 6 lbs or so.

Talk about not feeling anything on your back on the hike in... :)

I'm not sure I trust anyone "making their own" stand out of anything but steel. I guess if you are experienced enough with alum, you know what design will work and what kind of weight limit it could withstand.

The hangons that I have all weight in the low 20s except for the LW Alpha Assault that I use for a take in, take out stand, I think that's like 11lbs.

The steel hang ons I make weigh about 20lbs I believe. Been years since I weighed one so I could be off a bit. My platforms are big too, bigger the anything made In the Industry. Can't remember the dimensions though.
