Maybe he wants to restore the program? I could see him wanting to do that. He has called Michigan his dream job.

I don't think Harbaugh, or any other coach that doesn't run the type of system Rod does, would have much use for Robinson as a QB. Maybe a runningback or slot receiver, but not QB. Gardner is a big kid and could be a decent/good pocket passer. I think he would do fine in a pro style offense.

And stop trying to take away our hope.

Standford was a mess also, I don't think the AD has Harbaugh as his first choice.

Ryan Ermanni said the following on WDFN:

    1) RR will be fired in the next 24 hrs, regardless of Harbaugh. DB's original plan was to keep RR, force him to fire his DC, and let him go another year. But after the bowl game, he felt it was indefensible to keep him.

    2) Harbaugh may not have actually been the choice by DB! That is the 1st I heard of that one.

Denard has shown some very nice touch on many of his throws. Take Denard from UofM and they would have only won 2 maybe 3 games. Probably 2.

I mean really.... Leave a great Pac-10 gig, or a new NFL career to take over the worst defense in major football and an offense without it's only playmaker?

Dream job or not, it would be a nightmare.

Stanford may have been a mess when he got there... But, expectations are much different between Stanford and UM. If he was going 7-5 they would have been estatic out there. In Michigan 7-5 gets you fired.

He was not good in obvious passing situations, and he was most accurate throwing on the move. He is a good fit for Rod's type of offense. His strength is certainly not as a passer. You don't really believe he would make a good pocket passer, do you? You're better than that.

Good coaches are arrogant people. I don't think he's worried about the current situation of the program. I bet he would enjoy rescuing it. He would be a hero.

They said in last nights pregame that it would be a major upset if Stanford keeps him. The NFL guys are saying all signs point to Michigan, and that NFL teams are going to sweeten the deals they offer him because Michigan is the frontrunner. I'm not going to get my hopes up. I still think he's coaching an NFL team next year.

No, I do not think he is currently a good pocket passer. I am only saying without Denard UM would be the worst team in the Big 10 and one of the worst in all D1.

It would take 3-4 years before an improvement could be significant enough to notice in Ann Arbor. Does he want to spend that many years just to become competitive in the Big Ten, let alone on the national stage?

I wish you guys well, you are embarrassing a league who does plenty to embarrass it's self already.

For gods sake MSU won a share of the title this year and it is all UM's fault. All of UM should be ashamed that MSU played Bama and got the dog crap beat out of them. They never should have been there let alone 11-1. Seriously MSU 11-1? Way to go Maize and Blue.

When do you cut your losses? I agree it will probably take another couple years before they could be relevant again. Do you wait to see if this plays out for a couple more years, and if it doesn't, then start over? Now you are 4-5 years out?

I would understand if they want to keep him for that reason, I really do. I've said many times that I never liked the hire of Rod to begin with. I haven't seen anything to make me change my mind.

But I'm not Dave Brandon, so my opinion matters nil.

    Go sell your gold pants:bash:

I disagree, one of my beefs with RR is how stubborn he is on players.

Vincent Smith is not even close to the best back on that team, we have the athletes to go to a Pro-Stlye offense for sure.

Hopkins and Cox as RB, Hemiway, Roundtree and Stounum as WR. We have an NFL type TE in Kroger we never use. We have a pro stlye QB in Devon and Tate(if he gets his act together).

Denard was great because he got 80% of the carries and he's the only one fast enough to run RR offense scheme in the back field. Hopkins up the middle would be awesome!!!!!

I am not saying Rod shouldn't go.. I am saying if I am Harbaugh I do not want the UM job. He is the hottest candidate out there currently. Why back yourself into the mess that is UofM right now?

I hope he does go there. I want to see UofM be the UofM again.

Seriously.... MSU? Every Wolverine fan should wake up every morning and slug themselves in the nuts for letting them win a share of the conference title. Be sure to video it and post it on youtube.

Pride in the university he attended and played for? It can't be easy to see the Michigan football program struggling the way it is. They can't pay NFL money, but they can do ok.

I still would be shocked if he isn't coaching an NFL team next year.

One more thing...the Michigan job may not be open again for a while. They could hire someone that does a decent job. Coaching longevity exist more in college, than it does in the NFL. There will ALWAYS be NFL jobs open, every year. An opportunity to coach at Michigan, his alma mater, won't come along that often...at least I hope.

    Hell no, LOL
We may have put 14 on them, but they would have score 84 on us:jerry:

I know where MI is at today, I know how they got there. Not all is RR fault, but he has some blame in this mess.

Jim Harbaugh ask to come back help coach in the summers(while a pro) at MI, MI told him no and he went ot Western KY. In 1999/2000 he interviews for a coaching job, Carr turned him down. JH wanted to coach at MI, but MI snubbed him IMO.

Llyod Carr drove MI football of the cliff, RR was the guy in the car as it went off. RR could and should have did a better job rebuilding, he did not. He came in guns blazing and pissed a lot of people off. I still think given more time RR would right the ship, but it's over.

Heck no! I would get killed playing against any D1 football players. Germ may stay in shape by swimming in rivers and running from skunks, but I still think we would get smoked. I'm not sure who else we would ask to play either.

    Really??? Oooooooh...

I know he was talking about Michigan. It just find it humorous when people refer to teams as "we", "us", and "you". I don't play for anybody.

Just having a little fun, or trying to. ;)
