Looks like the Raiders draft strategy has worked out really well for them. Who should we draft? I don't know, who's the fastest guy available?
Most of the time those differences are due to people putting out bogus 40 yard dash times Scott. For example, they are going to say X linebacker runs a "4.5" coming out of high school and in college to make him seem faster than he really is....then he runs a hand clocked 4.65 by the old timer scouts and a 4.7 on the laser. I am not saying this to brag AT all b/c I am a nobody. I was a legit 4.50 40 yard dash guy. I ran that time for 5-6 years in a row. There were like maybe 5-6 guys on my college team that could flat out, outrun me over 40 yards most years. And two of those guys ended up running legit 4.38-4.40's and played in the NFL. I am very good at judging speed. For example, a kid out of my college, B.W. Webb ran a 4.51 at the combine this year. I've watched him play many times at put him right between 4.45-4.5. Not a blazer by NFL cornerback standards, but fast enough to play given he is very smart. Last thing, people don't really understand how fast a 4.7 40 yard dash is at all. A person running a 4.7 40 is faster than about 95% of the male population.
well even if you are that size, I just doubt that you have the leg strength to run that fast but with it being hand timed, it was probably more like 4.6
My fastest time ever was a 4.75 but most days I was in the 5.0 range. I ran the option a lot as a QB but never broke any long runs because I was just too slow.
