I've always had pretty good wheels. My best 100 time was 10.12, that was In 9th grade. I got shin splints bad In 9th grade so I ended my track career early along with a few other running type sports. I know for a fact I would've Improved that 100 time. Never got timed doing a 40 that I know of. My bet Is I would've been In that 4.5 range If my shin splints never would've hindered me. In football I was a WR. No one could catch me.
Initially I thought 5.3-5.5. However after Googling and seeing Rich Eisen ran a 6.03 last year, I'm going to revise mine and say 5.8-6.0.
Depending on his age, track used ot be ran in yard incriments. I think a 100yd time of 10.12 is reasonable for a strong h.s. athlete.
Faster than Hooker, so that's all I really care about At 40(my age) I bet I still could out run his sec speed, this white boy can motor.
I can't remember what we used. I know the transition from yards to meters happened close to my age group. I was thinking I mixed my numbers up to begin with but maybe I didn't. Maybe that time of 10.12 Is correct and was a yard time. All I know Is no one In the state could beat me In tarck In my age group In the 100 yard/meter (whichever one It was) run.
I wish I had run the 40 back when I played -- I'm guessing I could have been in the 4.5 range maybe?? The last thing I ran was hand timed 20-yard shuttle with a professional training in RTP. I ran a 3.95 so it was probably more like a 4.05 which is pretty respectable by NFL standards.
I just looked through some highschool stuff and found a medal from that year, It was the 100 yard dash. Not meter. I know my record still stands at the highschool so I'm going to call or stop up there and see what my time was just to be sure.
5.7 was my best time back in the day 1977.. I went to open summer tryout camp at IU.. was trying do the walk on thing and you had to do a 5.3 just to get a chance to practice.. of course I ran another 5.7
Sorry Hooker, my money is on Germ also. But, only because NO has wayyyyy better food then Michigan and I know thats gotta slow you down...just like Philly cheese steaks did to me!!
