He said he practices at 80 yards, I wonder if it was an 80 yard shot

That's nuts, he made a great shot for it being that far. I had 3 deer at 43 last year and didn't even think about trying it, of course it was in timber not a food plot

Sorry, but thats ridiculous. Didn't he shoot the Hightower buck in the neck a few years back at 47?

God forbid a guy practices for a shot and then makes it happen when he needs too.

There are far better things to worry about than a well placed shot and a dead deer.

I get it, gotta look good for the new hunters blah blah blah. But does a post like this need to get made every time a far shot is taken on camera? No disrespect to the OP, but honestly do we really need to worry about that? If he chooses to make that shot and can live with the results, good or bad, do we need to care? Lets me a little less sensitive...Christmas is coming and Im already not sure if I can say Marry Christmas this year or not.

I know a guy that just dropped a four by four or what y'all might call a ten point big black tail at 160. Yes I said 1 6 0. From the ground. I'll shoot anything inside of 80 and that's being conservative bi practice frequently at 100 and 125. I can hit a basketball group at. 125 fairly consistently. I say if your comfortable with the shot. Take it.

I have my wife drive the mini van at 43 mph through the corn field and I practice shooting the tires at 287 yards. I feel comfortable heart shooting a deer at full speed that is weaving in and out of briars at 213 yards.

You're joking obviously but really long shots can be made. Ever watch the World Cup of archery the shoot at 70 meters. Over 90percent of the time they hit a ten (about a 2" target) compound re-curve whatever.

This is true and I know all too well what a little buck fever will do to a shot. Last year I missed a 25 yard shot at a huge four by four with big tines. Didn't use my range. Shot at 20 right on the heart. Missed by an inch low. He gave me another broad side look at 56 this time I ranged pulled back way too shakey and let down. Followed him for half mile until I got another 50 yard look. Still shakey so I told him goodbye and went home. Think about that hunt all the time. Haven't seen him this year.

i wouldn't take the shot even if i practiced it all the time. with my luck it would barely penetrate and break off and it would live a few more days

Like i said no disrespect. You never said congrats so didnt seem like that was where you were going with it. Sorry to come off as accusing but thats where almost every thread like this goes. Sometimes the op takes it there, sometimes other posters. Either way i meant what i said to you or whoever reads it. He didnt say for a reason and thats because people are to sensitive and they shouldnt be.
