anywhere from 500 yards to a mile. I will purposly park down the road a bit and walk it before entering some spots If I feel Deer are crossing the road somewhere near. My mile walk is straight back.
All of my stands or trees I should say are over .5 miles. With a climber and pack on I get a pretty good workout. I don't mind it keeps me warm for a couple of hours.
One stand of mine is 100yds from my parents porch:D Mostly 100-400yd walks from where I park. Other than the stand behind my parents, it's relatively flat/rolling farmland. Granted there are sections that are steep, but much of our land is on top of the mountain with very few drastic elevation changes.
In PA I hunt from .5 to 1.5 miles in the woods (not as the crow flies). The spot I took my buck recently and the spot my brother took his was 1.5 miles in. The drag out took just over 2 hours for mine and 1.5 for his. I was doing it alone and with a cart. His, we drug. In Delaware, it is form 100 - 500 yards. I wish there was land in Delaware that I could walk a mile in
When we turkey hunted in SW WI we had a big steep hill we had to climb....we affectionatly named it "Ballslie's Ball Buster Hill."
When I hunt my uncle's land I walk between 1/4 to 1/2 miles to and from my stand. When I hunt my property I walk about 400 yards which is close to the back end of my 15 acres.
Anywhere from 100-600 yds. MAYBE a half mile on some of my public land spots. Terrain is mild hills, to pretty good steep ones. It always cracks me up to follow everyone's advice to "go deeper" past the crowds. Going "deeper" only means you are starting to come out the other side.
200-400 yards in most cases, if it is dry out, but this muddy year 1/4 mile was a short walk. also we have a relative that rifle hunts only, that parks his truck right next to the tree stands and kills out every year granted not are biggest deer but just goes to show even a blind squirrel
Some stands 80 yards, others any where from 500 yards to 3miles. Lots of logging roads that I utilize to access my stand locations.
1 - 2 miles, in the snow, uphill 2000' (both ways!) I try not to go more than 2 miles since that's about as far as I'd "want" to carry anything out on my back.
you must hunt by my dads old grade school, he told me it was uphill both ways also. so this place does exist.... haha just poken fun with ya.:D
