I see they show it on a strap on stand. On my Goliath climber, the straps double as a emergency strap in case you drop your foot section. Do these have something that would work for that? They look really nice.

I have one set on my LW Sit and Climb and one set with my LW Assault and sticks... They work equally well on both setups. As far as a strap to attach to the hand climber portion of your stand, no they do not. I think that is what you are asking?

Just leave the old strap on as the emergency strap and use the other to carry.

Yea basically. Look at this picture.
    http://www.summitstands.com/catalog.aspx?catid=goliath
On my climber, the straps attach to the seat 1/2 of the climber and when you get to your stand you unclip one end of the strap and clip it on the foot rest 1/2 so that if you accidently drop your foot 1/2 the strap will catch it.

Wonder what I could do about that?

I use a lone wolf handclimber and Gray Wolf Woolen straps, I believe it is the best climber setup out there.

I would take that strap off and just use a pice of black nylon rope tied to both halves... that's the way the old Summits came anyway.

If I tried that and my wife saw me... she would have me committed !!!!! She already thinks I taking my hunting too far to be sane. I've got an old stair stepper... I might just have to do it to see what she says. LOL

I use a lone wolf also and most of our walks are 1 mile in weather we walk the roads on the farm or woods but then we add another 40-50 lbs of camera equipment to and now you have two old guys working..Walt

whenever i had a long way to walk i'd try and get a buddy to help and we'd switch off. if you have to pull it every day i'd try to switch to a diff stand..... tough one... maybe get a cart or cover it with leaves for the night??????

Hey, this is actually kind of a useful thread. ;)

I still use the stock straps on my summit open shot. The original stitching broke and now I've just tied them on there. I used to go a mile into the woods and those thin little straps killed my shoulders. They also seem to meld with me and I have to do this strange little dance (wiggle, shake, flail, repeat... ) to get the climber off of me.

If it weren't for the straps, I think I could carry it all over. I do have trouble going down steep hills because the stand hangs down low enough to dig into the dirt. And at the beginning of every season it takes me a couple times of getting stuck to remember that the stand is wider than I am and that I can't squeeze in between trees that I normally could when I'm walking through the woods. Duh.

I may order some of those replacement straps youz guyz mentioned.

Either you people really take the scenic route to you stands or hunt much larger tracts of land than me. A "far" walk for me is 600 yds, maybe 800 at the most.

Most of my walks are short, but I have made many 1+ mile waks and I would say 1 mile and comfort can't really be said in the same sentence!

Comfortably? About 50 yards. LOL I usually walk 1/4-1/3 of a mile, but sometimes I go 1/2 mile or only 100 yards. I use the original straps on my Summit Viper. If I have to walk a 1/4 mile or more on every hunt during the early season when I only have a light shirt on, my shoulders will start to hurt (get slightly bruised) in 5-6 days. If I had easy walking where I could move right along this probably wouldn't be much of an issue, but I'm usually picking my way through a swamp or some nasty log infested brush so it's on my back a while. Of course it doesn't help any that I attach about 10 lbs in gear on the back of my treestand. If I wasn't so cheap I might get an after market strap.

My climber is an older and heavier version. The farthest I ever went with it on my back is about 45 minute walk which was mostly up hill and I was exhausted after.

I can walk farther than anyone else. I'm half-man, half-machine. The Undisputed King.

    Just so we're all clear.

Yeah, yeah, we got ya Kingy. I don't use the climber much, but a far walk with it would be anything over 3/8ths of a mile or so.
