How early does everyone hang a stand and bait before the opener, if its a new spot? I usually hang mine 2 months to a 1 month before the season and start baiting just after the stand it hung. Just wondering how early others hang stands and to see if i am an odd hunter!

Hung one yesterday. Its usually just when I get time. I try not to commit to hanging every stand I own until after i know for sure I wont gain any new property I can hunt.

If it works out... I like to hang my stands in spring after winter scouting. Typically this works out to be sometime in April after the snow melts. No heat, no bugs and the woods looks like it will in November. Sometimes I do need to make adjustments with stands in summer. But at least a majority of the work during the hot buggy season is complete. I’m starting to get to the point where I don’t need to adjust from year to year as I know the properties very well. I just leave my stands up all year and they are in the right spot.

I have 6 ladder stands that I leave out all year. But this year, I moved a few of them. I got a couple of them done in the spring, but I still have a couple to do yet, (I have taken them down, I just have to get the time to move them to a new spot. That probably wont happen until about 3 weeks before the season starts. As far as the baiting goes, we cant bait hee in Minnesota.

I leave some up year round as well, but some of my better stands I use for traveling or hunting new property when I get the chance. I always get back up and make sure my shooting lanes are still clear and my stands are secure!

I have a few stands that never come down, they are set up on year around travel routes by bucks, I have some that are never come down that I hunt in the rut which are set up on year around travel routes by does.. then I have a few that will go in based on hot evidence that I am collecting right now up until about mid August.

I leave my junk (cheap) stands up all year. My good Gorilla stands I take them down on when my last hunting day is over.

Our season starts in just over 2 weeks and I am going to throw the gorillas back in the trees.
