Depends on the amount of noise I will have to make going in. Ideally 15-20 minutes if on the edge of pastureland unless the deer usually move very early. In rustly leaves at least thirty minutes or more. If deer usually move later in the morning (I often arrow deer between 9:30 and 11:00 AM)... I may wait until after the morning nature call and set up an hour or more after first light. I also go in earlier in the afternoon than many hunters and arrow deer between 1:00 and 3:00 PM. A great trick I have learned is to take 7 or 8 steps... stop for about 20-30 seconds and look for deer... grunt and repeat. They often think you are a deer. I have shot several deer on my way to the stand. Be ready when you get on stand because they may be right behind you.
