I am like Dan and follow him on FB mainly for entertainment value. What has always turned me off is how much he asks his fans to do. Just about every week he is posting something about needing volunteers to help him remodel his new building, or during the season last year I know of a few times where he was almost begging for information on places to hunt and looking for a hook up. You don't see very many other shows doing stuff like that.
Never even heard of the guy, but after seeing some of that stuff I don't think I'll go out of my way to watch his show.
Sorry if I derailed the thread Dan. Yes he does seem to have a very minimal amount of tact. There are a lot of other hunting celebrities out there that have much more positive interactions and are much more respectful. Cameron Hanes comes to mind. Then of course there is this website/ show where we can all interact and the people on the show are great about throwing out some fan recognition.
Definitely not a knock on BHOD, as I was a part of it at one time, but the FB page is for all of bowhunting.com. I would guess that a BHOD FB page wouldn't have nearly as many likes.
I never cared for him to start with. I watched two arrow affliction episodes and never watched again. He was too much of a narcissist.
Sad thing is I had a guy on THIS site several years ago use one of my deer pics for his "website" & "Facebook page". I called him out immediately on it bc he was selling hunts to kill this particular deer in completely different state. There are ****** bags out the everywhere, makes me hesitant to post anything with pics anymore.
I watched his first season of arrow affliction and then stopped after that. His rock star attitude was too much for me. I kept following him on facebook until the fallout over the sportsman show in Harrisburg. If I am correct, he was picking fights with a lot of the people posting on his page. It's good to see everyone catching on to his antics. I'd like to see he won't last much longer but he's been holding on for quite awhile.
I met this guy back in February at the Harrisburg show very disappointed being that he is the new face of Martin Archery!! Seemed all he had time for was selling his autographed gear, not very friendly, and no time for conversation!! I wasn't looking to learn his entire family tree just wanted to welcome him to the Martin family!! You would have thought I asked him for a lump some of cash!!
With friends like Dan who needs enemies? That said, a Facebook page gives you very little insight into the popularity or reach of a brand. "Likes" can be very misleading. As for Brackett....no comment.
