I am usually thankful I didn't make a bad hit. I also usually take a shot with my practice arrow to see if something is wrong. If all is well... I just grimace and press on with a resolve to aim more carefully on the next shot.
Nock another arrow! The way I think about it is, how would you feel throwing away a second chance cause your sulking or walking out of the woods? I know I'd beat my head against a tree if I threw away a second shot. About 3 years ago I have a decent buck come in and my arrow tinked on my bow, gone in a second. Instead of leaving the woods i sat 2 hours later the same buck came in. I didn't let my arrow tink that time! That's why I always stay in the woods. Sent from my iPhone 5S
I missed my very first buck at 15yards when i was 13 years old. I was shooting a 40lb Hoyt Trykon kids bow... I drew back and anchored, and took a last glance at the 20"+spread on his antlers and squeezed the shot. With my eyes went my bow and i shot antler level over his back. It was a 3-1/2 year old 140" buck. I have nightmares to this day, lol. I nocked another arrow and almost got a second shot, but he stepped out of range at 30yds.
Wait for said deer to walk off then go check out my arrow to be sure it was a clean miss. Sent from my VK810 4G using Tapatalk
made some bad shots but never had a clean miss. Wish that was the reverse, but unfortunately not the case.
nock another arrow and never give up! might come back, I missed one and I just put another arrow and he came back, and then I hit him
That's part of hunting in my book! I try to learn from it but I no longer beat myself up like I had in my younger years.
Nock another. I have whiffed on a buck and he came back 45 minutes later. I didn't miss the second time.
I used to get seriously dejected. These days I just nock another arrow and go for it. I love hunting too much and dont get to hit the woods as much these days so I just tough it out.
you miss 100% of the shots you don't take, so I have a short memory when it comes to a bad shot (thank God).
Take out my frustration by figuring out what to do next to get another shot. I still think about my first ever shot at what would be my biggest bow buck. 20 minutes into my first bow hunt and I missed him 2 feet left at 17 yards... Still think about how I managed to do that. Ha! this just happened a few years ago. I shot at a deer 20 feet from me and a bump sticking out of a tree caught a 1/8 inch of my blade and stopped the arrow dead one foot from a perfect shot. I was ready to scream you've got to be kidding me when I nocked another arrow dropped to my knee and shot him. So if I missed totally I know what I would have said you've got to be kidding me!!!!! I had it bad the first two years of bowhunting... There's a reason I missed my first 3 deer yet practiced shooting all the time. I still get it of course, but I've at least calmed down enough to be able to think a little bit. Heck on that shot I didn't even look at my pins. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
