I was out for lunch in a sports bar watched that play, did somebody piss pound Gustav later in the game?
I think the score of the game was a pounding enough lol Honestly I don't think he meant to harm Spurgeon the way he did because he is just not that type of player but, he still deserves a few games suspension for it.
Were we watching the same game? He intentionally did that. I find it hilarious that he is trying to say that it was not on purpose.
Just like Spurgeon intentionally crosschecked him in the lower back....I guarantee he wasn't thinking "I'm going to spear him right in the face, that will teach him!" Nyquist had less than 10 min in penalties all year until this incident.
I quality of services rendered, I agree. The US health care beats Canada's system. I was only referring to affordability, which for me, sees no difference when you add US taxes and insurance premiums in contrast with Canada's higher tax rates.
You can not tell me that a pro hockey player put his stick anywhere inadvertently. Guys regularly get their stick on a puck to redirect it on a shot that is going close to 100 mph, if you have that kind of hand eye coordination you know exactly where the end of the stick is and where it is at.
When they direct the puck into the net half the work is from the guy shooting the puck, the guy tipping the puck just makes sure his stick is on the ice for the deflection. Nyquist is not a McSorley or Bertuzzi, he was frustrated and messed up, plain an simple.
You can regularly see players tip the puck in the air not on the ice. The Wild bench should have sent a guy next shift as soon as possible to relieve Nyquist of his frustration with a few fists. Oh wait I forgot the european influence has pussified the NFL, bet to let the league sort out justice.
Just watched a replay of that play. There is NO way that wasn't intentional. The puck hadn't moved yet from in front of him, he turns around and stabs him with a stick. Ridiculous.
It doesn't matter that he is not McSorley or Bertuzzi. He did it on purpose with the intention of slashing Spurg in the face.
He retaliated after Splooge purposely cross checked him in the back and no call was made. This is why almost every league here in MI has "STOP" sign patches on their back, so dirty plays like that don't happen to begin with.
So now Spurgeron is the dirty player Maybe NHL should enforce fully enclosed helmets with protection to prevent someone from getting slashed in the face. What Spurgeron did (cross check) happens so many times during the game, during every game. It was not a dirty play. Nyquist simply overreacted and let his emotions get the best of him.
I almost hate to admit this I remember when there were players not wearing helmets, hockey players are some of the toughest athletes out there in the sports world.
*Get's 3 teeth knocked out, and 5 stitches. Back on the ice in 10-15 minutes.* NBA players bump knees and sit out rest of game.
The patch is actually for "no checking from behind", a boarding penalty takes place along the boards where as a check from behind can occur anywhere.
Yes it is called boarding and it is far more offensive to a hockey player than a check from behind on open ice, matter of fact it happens as often as a block in the back in football.
