I know this is going to sound like a dumb question but I have never bow hunted before. I have been watching all the programs that come on TV where they are deer hunting with a bow. What I have noticed is that when the deer is walking and is in range the bow hunter will grunt so the deer will stop, and then he will shoot it. My question is : Does he make this sound with his mouth ?? I don't think I could shoot the bow with one of the many grunt calls I have. They are too big and would probably mess up my anchor point. On the videos they never show the hunter when he makes the grunt sound so I don't know how he is doing it.

Yes. Just make a "grunt" noise while at full draw. I normally wait till they stop if there are a lot of openings but will use this if I need to stop it.

Yep, just using their voice to make them stop. Sometimes if the deer don't hear it, they will even whistle at them or something

It doesn't necessarily need to be a grunt either, a good "Meh" doe bleat will stop them too.

Ideally, I like to wait until the deer stops on his/her own. I feel rushed to take the shot once I "meh" to get their attention. Just keep that in mind.

Yeah its with your mouth. any small noise will normally get them to stop but grunts and meh seem to most common.

Thanks for the answers. I should have been able to figure it out myself but these guys ( on TV ) were so good they sounded just like my UpRoar call. Now I guess I have something else I need to practice.
