Tell your mother and father to go with you and that you are willing to do extra work or pay for the trip out of your allowance. Let your parents know the truth about how you feel about bowhunting and it's a great way for you to fellowship with people that feel the same way as you do.

Explain to them together not separately the positives it has had on your life and how it has improved your life as you've gotten older and stayed out of trouble due in large part of your passion of using a bow and hunting as your father once did. And how beautiful it would be to share a weekend hunt as a father and son team.

Then BAM! You're on your way.

    Good Luck!:tu:

I was sixteen my first get to gather, but with this being said I went with my 19 year old brother and another guy from here in Ohio. Then the next year went back and won the shoot when I was 17 ;)

I agree with you! I wouldn't even encourage him to come. I hope no one offers him a drink since they'll be booze there. Otherwise, if something happens there with a minor all by himself we ALL are responsible. The director of this GTG should clam that No Minors without the accompaniment of an adult. Period.

Since this is my first sit at the GTG, I want it to be a good experience with me and also my wife. In the evenings when we all gather, if things get stupid and obnoxious with drinking and who knows what else, it'll be a blemished GTG and my last GTG. Something that I do want to continue doing.

At 55 I'm no prude and will be bringing micro beer from Emmitt's Brewery in West Dundee, but I was once young and stupid too when it came to drinking.

This is our 6th year doing this. We have never had any problems and to my knowledge we have never had anyone leave and not want to return the next year. The drinking has gotten a little crazy for some but we have never had a problem. The campground is not part of the official Bowhunting.com sponsored event. The archery shoot on Saturday is the only Bowhuntng.com event and they do not serve any beer.

It is a great event with a ton of great people. The campground on friday night is just another way for all of us to spend some more time together and a real opportunity to get to know people and catch up with old friends that we only get to see once a year. I hope that everyone that attends for the first time shows up with thoughts of having fun, and meeting some new people. I have never had a problem with the event and I know many others haven't either.

Dont take this the wrong way but there are a few young fellas that come and have a great time "Legal Drinking Age". Even them they get a little wild but nothing to really make you think this is not the thing for you. It is all more just to have a good time. Very respectful out of all of us to each other. There are more of the social drinkers like myself that are there just to have a good time and enjoy a few brews with it. It does seem like a few of the young ones are going to miss it again this year. Wish you all could make it. Trust me on this. It is well worth the time there. This is my third year going and I will be going every year unless there is something major wrong with myself. I am 38 years old and I would say that it is around the average age for most of us! Everyone that I have told to join us has really enjoyed the people and are hooked just like myself! You will have a great time with a lot of great people and you can take my word on that. Am I Correct all that have been there?

Also, xtreme16 is one of our young UNDERAGE shooters and was at camp with his dad and they both are coming back and big into the site. Ask them how they feel on all of us that go to this great time activity!

I dont' think any1 here is telling him to show up by himself. I agree w/U; I wouldn't let my kid go either, BUT I think that we are encouraging his father to attend. I also agree that no one better be thinkn about giving him booze if he does show up. We have to act as responsible adults.
