We have a boy that turns 3 this month. He is somewhat interested in potty training but we just can't seem to turn the corner. The thing that is frustrating is that he has been at about the same level since he was two. No progress at all for about a year is becoming to wear on me a little bit. I know it's nothing to get alarmed about (yet) but I am looking for ideas on what worked with you for boys to help us take the next step.

I demonstrated. Glad I didn't have a girl or I would have been lost. LOL

With my daughter, we used a combination of a potty seat on the toilet, day and nighttime pull-ups and this video:

My son (who turned 3 in January) has autism and we have yet to get him to show any interest in trying to learn, which is probably the most important thing.

Try a reward system. He gets something he likes if he goes on the "big boy potty" Maybe a piece of candy etc. Also really make a big deal when he tries and a bigger deal if he goes. Alot of praise.

Throw a few cherios in the toilet, let him take target practice. I did that with my son.

I took Miriam into the bathroom with me when I had to go. She decided she wanted to be like mommy. It didn't take long at all. If she had been a boy, daddy would have done it. You have to be completely uninhibited, you know natural thing and all.

Brad, boys take longer. My son was around 3 when he was potty trained, my daugher 2. My third child turns 2 this month and she is still a couple months off I believe...she is walking toward the toilet but does not commit! If I can get her potty trained this month I will finally have a rest after 8 years of constant potty training and diapers!

I've blocked all that from memory...

But I do know my son took longer then my daughter. He was tough. Actually ended up working it out in our trailer while we were camping a Disney and he got a Woody toy for his efforts. He had to be three if I can remember. (My wife could tell you exactly, what he was wearing and what he ate that day).

My girls all were fully trained at 2. Don't ask me how it was done. Obviously they were way smarter than the old man.:tu:

My sons are older now but sometimes I think the oldest needs to be potty trained, He did have some pride when he wrote his names in the snow in may... I guess Donavan is tough to write in the snow.
