Alot of us spend ALOT of time using hunting forums these days. They are a great place to come and ask questions, view deer pictures and talk with other people that are just like ourselves. So let me ask you, mr/mrs poster, why/when/how did you find and join these hunting forums?
By chance, mostly, I lived out in rural idaho, not much for social life... so with the old dial up I thought "I wonder what kind of hunting sites are out there." So I did a search, found a few sites I liked with good people and it snowballed from there. I thought how great ... a chance to share info with guys around NA that arent out sneaking around in my honey holes. Been great every since and have made life long friends and have hunted places I would have never dreamed of, and have been able to return the favor for others.
After my first season of bowhunting, i was obsessed and just happened to type in Bowhunting.com to see what turned up looked around the forum and i knew it was a awesome site to learn and BS about bowhunting. This has been my first site, and i see no reason to find a different one.
I've been hunting since childhood, but you're never too old to learn from others. I was invited to this forum by Rickmur.
I did a google search for some Nikon Binocs and bowhunting.com came up in the results. Nosed around the site got hooked on reading the forums and it developed from there.
I was detoxing from NH hunting season, which ended Dec. 15th. Board out of my gourd and started to google hunting and then found HNI. Fellow hunter Schultzy invited onto BH (so blame him)...!!! I like some of the topics and most of the people on the sites. Discussion is a good thing, however, debates tick me off, as it's similar to "beating a dead horse". Common sense goes a long way in life, some figure that out quicker than others, which is kind of a funny coincidence!!! I actually just come on these site to see pictures of Freak Daddy and company Blood Brothers is another good site that I frequent, less BS and school kids antics...
I started way back when...I was a member on the Buckmasters forum. Somebody on there put a link to HNI shortly after they opened up...and it was down hill from there.
after being out of archery for a long long time (25+ yrs I guess) my oldest boy was watching Versus a lot and really was "drawn" to archery... so I started researching stuff and found my way over to AT, so good info there but WAY to much bickering and BS to sort thru... started looking for hunting specific forums and ended up on HNI... Ferg got in touch with me about this place and let me know and that's how I got here on the early side of things...
Last bow season I was working and was going crazy to get out of the office and bowhunt...I thought - wonder what I could find online to help "get a fix" while I'm stuck at work...BAM...Bowhunting.com gave me my "fix"
I moved 2 hour away from my bow shop so I've had to learn to maintain and tune my bow myself. I was searching around for tuning information, and I found the BH.com Bowhunting Knowledge pages... Great Stuff! I happened to click on the forums tab and read a few, hooked ever since. I was never on this "other" sight you speak of:p. I love D&DH, but I've never gotten into their forums either, I felt like a tadpole in the ocean. Just plain too many people, and I'm more interested in bowhunting of course. Its a great group of guys here, and its addicting as can be. So here I am. The only other forum I've even used is iboats.com... great help for my fish boat remodel project.
I was googling reviews of the Bowtech Guardian and General's when I came upon HNI. I joined, bought a Hoyt and the rest is history.
I started on message boards back in '90 when it was monochrome and scrolling chat. I got started on hunting forums same way I got started on any of them. Found some, lurked until I could tell the good from the bad and joined the good.
I found HNI a few years ago while bored at work. Then when HNI banned me, I actively searched for another hunting forum. I tried several others before I stumbled upon this one and recognized alot of familiar names.
I had a subscription to Missouri Deer Hunter Magazine, and was checking out their website. Found a link to HNI and the internet hasn't been the same since.
