never used a decoy but thought about dragging the target deer out to see what happens.
How close do you guys place them?

I would set it out about 20 to 25 yards out quartering towards you for a buck decoy. That way when a buck comes to it, he will have to come between you and the decoy, and should give you a broadside shot when he turns. A doe decoy probably no more than 20 yards, that you want facing away from the timber or area where you feel the deer will approach from so the buck will come behind the doe decoy.

no problem, don't be affraid to hit the rattling horns hard when you have that decoy set up as a buck! Thats what I would set it up as, oh wait where are you hunting?state?
