I'v been discussing these recent tragic shooting events over and over with about everyone I know or come in contact with. I've read through most of the other threads on this subject, but now I'm hoping to hear solid thoughts on how we can move forward and stop this sort of blood shed. This isn't a debate, I'm simply wanting to know your thoughts and/or belief's on preventing these shooting from taking place anywhere? Sure we can arm someone at every school in the US, but what about Chucky Cheese, or the Mall. Play nice~
It will not end. It's human nature. We may be able to stem it, I say that loosely. But we cannot stop it. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
Emotions are running high on this topic while the nation mourns. I really think that the parents and familys should be able to grieve their lost loved ones without politics getting involved from the get go. We all know that won't happen, though. Lots of ideas are being presented. * Gun bans- while they may prevent an assualt weapon getting in the wrong hands down the road, what about the millions of (fill in the blank on type of weapon) already out there? * Armed security or law enforcement in schools- probably the most common sense approach. But what happens when 2 or more gunmen enter a school, wearing body armour, and the 65 year old retired cop is there with only a 9mm? This is probably the best deterrent to a school shooting, but not a solid solution for people determined to cause mass casualties. *Better background checks- Only works for the person purchasing the weapon. Two shootings last week alone, both guns were stolen. I don't know what the answer is to protect our schools. I wish I did.
Can't stop it. I wouldn't propose arming all the teachers at school..... but hiding behind a 'gun-free zone' sign or under a chair doesn't seem to be helping.
well I feel this is a start: (disclaimer: this video is from the religious Christian viewpoint...if you hold to that faith this video puts it perhaps the perfect way! Huckabee shares the TRUTH on the subject and yes I'll tag this as my opinion for I know some will disagree 100%.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MR39j1KMOsE
I also believe that unfortunately it is something that can't be stopped. It is a very sad piece of human nature.
We can't. Unfortunately some politicians will use tragedy and emotion as a springboard for some nonsense that won't work. But hey they will be able to say the did something and somewhere out there in the world someone will "feel safer" because of it. The fact that they will not actually be any safer and only had their rights rights reduced will not matter, Oh look a rainbow! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2sKH8yjVsM
Like said. We cant. This is the world we live in. You can get rid of social media and TV and be under the assumption the world is a happy nice place like my grandparents did in the 50's and 60's if you want... Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
I agree that we can't stop it. Mass killing's have been happening since Biblical times perhaps before the sword or axe. I do find it odd that so many armed officers are stand guard at every court house but not at all schools.
Its the trend. There was a potential for political violence. Now that has worked its way into school violence. Soon itll be something else. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
We CAN stop it....we need to ban cars. It would be killing two birds with one stone, 100X more people die in car crashes each year than by guns shot...and these dumbass's would be way to lazy to walk to the mall, school, or any place over a half mile from where they live.
Is it really a trend? It's hard to plan for something that happens every few years, in totally random locations across the country. I'm not trying to be cold hearted, but unless you put a capable security team at every school and university across the country things like this are inevitable. It's a horrible tragedy yes but things like this are almost impossible to stop. As much as the government would like to they cannot monitor every person in this country, these things could happen anytime, any place.
No screw that...spoons. America is too fat anyways and the resulting hypertension, CAD, Atrial Fib, COPD, Diabetes and CHF kill more people then your accidents and gun violence. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
I'm sure, I don't watch the news ever to keep track of it all, but what I'm saying is that trying to eliminate it from ever happening would take more resources than we have available.
Im talking about ones that dont make the news. I have 2 high school age brothers, and every year a bomb (shooting) threat or two get quietly folded. Kids might miss a day or two of school, and nobody knows if the perpatraitor was serious....but does it matter if its stopped? Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
Most of the time when those sorts of things are "foiled" the perp wasn't even serious, note that I said most of the time. Which bring me to the point of what makes a kid serious about wanting to do something like this. If we want to totally nip this in the bud don't try to take away his access to weapons, take away his want to kill little kids. Guidance issues??
