Life long fan here, but a football realist.

My question is, has Tony Romo finally figured it out, has he finally seen the light? that he has enough talent around him to just simply protect the football, make good choices and let those around him make plays and he himself not FORCE it.. or will Dallas fall right back into the Romo of old and fade in the late season with interceptions and fumbles..

Dallas; whether you hate em or love em has been playing pretty good football the past three weeks. Their defense looks solid. They have some weapons on offense and can definatley run the ball.

They will flame out by the end of the season, just like they have that past 4 or 5 years.

i have to agree with hooker. jerry always seems to get more involved and screws things up, thats why parcels and johnson left. don't get me wrong they have a good team, but i think their coach is weak and jones always is more interested in what he wants vs. what's best for the team. think if they do make the playoffs they will lose quickly. i also think they will destroy us(packers) this week :(. you look at their win vs. philly, it was nice, and then look at the steeler win at denver, steelers are way more impressive and look like a super bowl bound team. my 2 cents

Being a 'boys fan myself I'm hoping they don't fade towards the end of the year as has been the case all too often the past few years. I'm just worried that, like always, a loss or two here and there and Jerry Jones will make his way from his luxury suite down to the field and that always spells disaster on and off the gridiron.

Well, I honestly think that Romo has turned a page, he has turned down the "fun" aspect of his game and turned up the "strategy" part. He is on a roll right now, and his 9 TD and 1 INT over the last 4 games is something that even during his pro-bowl seasons was a pipe dream. He played a good game against the best secondary in the game (Philly) and he out-performed a future Hall Of Fame QB in McNabb.

The biggest upgrade for the Cowboys is the secondary... finally we are seeing some good play from somebody other than Terrance Newman.

I agree, they've been looking great. Romo hit 10 different receivers during the Seahawks game. Impressive to say the least. He's also been showing good composure and hasn't been trying to force the ball. I just hope Mr. November (thats what they call Romo around here) can become Mr. December

Amen to that. This young secondary has really stepped up. Another thing that surprises me is the hits Newmans been giving people.

McNabb...hall of fame? lol Not so sure about that....

Romo, Cowboys...not so great. Its all glitter...no meat. No playoffs wins are coming, so dont get your hopes up.

This is where i would normally start busting balls for the beatdown i expect out of my boys...but ill hold back. Im still disgusted. And i literllly have no idea what to expect this weekend...are we gunna play like the team that barely lost to minny, or the team thats got whooped by the bucs?

Dude, if you don't see McNabb making the hall of fame... well, I honestly don't know what to say....30,555 passing yards, 204 passing TD's, 93 INT... 3,183 Rushing Yards, 27 rushing TD's.. and he could play another 5 years or more. Having the lowest INT to PASS rating IN THE HISTORY OF THE GAME speaks volumes.

Really? They Cowboys have a 6-2 record, could/should have beat both the Bronco's and the Giants while they were considered two of the top 3 teams in the league... and they aren't so good? No meat? Have you watched the Cowboys play this year? Serious question. Its very easy to sit back and watch ESPN and think they can show you what a team is made of... it's a different ball game to have NFL Sunday Ticket and watch every second of every game.

What cracks me up is back in 2007 when Dallas was a all out passing attack team that was putting up huge numbers people said that it didn't mean anything because they didn't have the "toughness" like a teams such as the Steelers.... now, the Cowboys have the gritty... punch you in your mouth attack and people are writing them off because they don't have a crazy offense like they did in 2007.

Appreciate the responses and perspectives, but until they win a playoff game and get over that hump, I dont get my hopes up, right now I am just enjoying watching them play some good football.

    ESPN? Whats that? ;)

4 years of NFL Sunday Ticket has taught me this:

The Packers will let me down
    The Browns suck
    The Patriots catch EVERY break
The Colts and the Cowboys can dominate the regular season and destruct in the playoffs EVERY YEAR, except 04' when Manning did his thing :D

6-2? Let talk again in January.

McNabb looks good on paper...but isnt THAT great IMO. He could only reach the Super Bowl with TO, hes been replaced by Kolb and Garcia in the past...and gets hurt everytime he touches the ball. Just not the biggest fan.

Same could be said about your idle, my friend

For the Cowboys, though, like has been said before until they do something in the playoffs all of this regular season glamor is for not. They just have a whole lot of questions to be a first place team. Has Romo figured it out? Can Barber/Jones stay healthy? Is Miles Austin a legitimate go to receiver? Is their secondary for real?

Only time will tell I guess. As always, it should be an interesting second half to the season.

Which one? Favre...on paper, and in real life....the "definition" of a hall of famer....

Rodgers....whoa buddy, i might be crazy, but there has never been a HOF mention there..yikes

Austin..fantasy goldmine, and legite reciever. We saw it last time they played the Packers...his first breakout game.

Clearly I wasn't talking about him.

No mention of the Hall in my post either big guy, I'm speaking strictly with respects to being a marquee QB.

I sure hope so. I've liked this guy since he first came into the league simply because he seems to be a hard working player who plays just for the love of the game. But, honestly, I'm still a bit worried that once people start putting their best CB on him instead of looking at him as the 2nd/3rd receiver then it may be a different story. Only time will tell I guess :)

I doubt anybody was looking at him as a 3rd receiver the last 2 weeks, especially with the Cowboys receivers....

ps..the whole QB convo was about the HOF ;)

You saw what happened last weekend. Austin was well covered therefor Roy got more catches than usual. I'm really liking our passing threats

I'm a diehard Cowboys fan too. Yes they are playing pretty good right now. Romo is spreading it around nice and they found a big play threat in Austin. Running game is solid with a mix of explosive and power. Romo seems to have steadied the turnover ship for now and imagine that they win 4 in a row.

However I'm just not sold on them yet. He still hasn't won one single big game in his career. Even regular season games that mean a lot. I just think when a game gets hyped and he hears the talks about his lack of success in big games, he reverts back to the old Romo. He tries to hard and makes some really bad decisions. He simply tries to do to much. Time will tell, but I just don't see him having Montana mentality anytime soon in big games.
