as I have posted before this is my first year baiting bear. I now have two active bait sights, and this is the biggest bear I have coming in.I won't lie though I am more than likely going to shoot the first bear that gives me a shot, I just hope it is this guy.

Man great pics. I wish we had bears here in Iowa. Best of Luck. I know you said you'd probably harvest the first bear that gives you a shot....But, since you know this bruiser is around, I'd be patient and smoke em. Hopefully he'll be back. I bet he will.

I have hunted and killed bears...but it's really tough to judge the size of them on pics so i'm not even going to venture a guess as to what it weighs...but it looks like a decent sized one to me.

If that bear is consistantly hitting your bait during daylight and is the best one you have pictures off...I don't know why you wouldn't hold out for him?....try to be patient...the smaller bears are likely to be the first to hit your bait before any larger one's come in.

Hard to tell weight from a picture. But, that is definitly a boar and a good sized one. I'd stick him!

    Good luck!

thanks for the replies, I would like to be patient and hold out for him, especially sice he is coming in in daylight hours in the morning and I had some pictures of him at 5pm, but I also only have about 4-5 days to hunt as well.I have had about 4 different bears at this site and only one at my other site. For those of you that have hunted bear before do you do sits in the morning as well or only afternoon. My first sit is going to be friday afternoon and I was thinking about just sleeping in my truck and going out first thing in the morning as well. My baits are about 2.5 hours from my house but my parents are only 45 minutes away.
here is a picture of the bear at theother bait site

He's in good shape. I have a lot of black bears in the area here where I live. He's a decent bear and I'd say he's pushing 350 lbs. It is hard to tell from a picture, but judging from his head and ears I'd say he's probably a shooter.

if your barrels were standing upright they would be pretty easy to guess. either way those are nice bears and i'd be holding out for the first 1. at least the first night!
