So, as recently posted here, my girlfriend and I have recently gotten engaged. Now, we're "planning" the wedding. When we arrived to the topic of gift registering, we both agreed on one thing: We don't need anything. So, we're going to register at cabela's instead of the normal BB&B, etc. Our thoughts, we could use some camping gear. She's a keeper! Obviously I might sneak in a few items for me....
I'll take that bet. For those that don't want to buy us Cabela's stuff, we are going to set up a paypal account so people can donate towards our honeymoon. We don't need anything. There are things we would wouldn't mind replacing, but they would cost far more than most people will want to spend. We have no camping stuff, so we will have a range of items to put on the list. That way the $50-$500 spenders will have something on the list. FYI, if you're going to a wedding, and you don't at least get the couple a $25 gift card for each person you bring (including yourself) you're being a bit selfish. Most likely, they paid double (or more) for you to be there. I think it's my biggest complaint about this getting married thing..... 79.95 per person for a 4 hour open bar and some food... Pretty retarded...
Yes, we actually found a place where we'll get the whole thing for 150 guests for about $8000. Outdoor wedding and outdoor reception. We are going to tour it next week. She wanted to go on Thursday, but cold front is coming in.... so.. I had her reschedule.
Venues are a complete rip-off. You don't know anyone with a pretty piece of property? Outdoor weddings and receptions can be done cheap, and not look cheap. My wedding/reception was outdoors and we pulled everything off (food, drinks, table rentals, decorations, everything except the photog) for under $3k. And it looked great as well (It was featured in 2 magazines and the world's most popular wedding blog )
Nice!!! Kendall and I are thinking about renting the Sparta World Shooting Complex for our reception. (if'n we ever get around to actually getting hitched) :D
