My home is great but I could build another, the land on the other hand is all but irreplaceable. Planting another orchard, building and stocking new ponds takes years. I don't have a neighbor I can see until the leaves fall, and I don't mind listening to his coon hounds at night. I think I will stay where I'm at for a while longer.
I don't like my house or the location. I stay where I am because my house sits on 30 acres that I hunt and my family owns another 40 next to it. The 3 or 4 months of hunting season its great, the rest of the year, eh. I'd move in a heartbeat, but I'm not attempting to sell until the housing market picks up. I may be here awhile.
The only thing I'm attached to are my wife, kids and family. They're the only thing that can't be replaced in this world. So, let me get this straight. You're thinking about not relocating to a place that's over 2000 miles from where you live now because you like your house? This has to be one of the most retarded questions I've seen on here......ever.
As an example it is fine to say as "as a whole this group has moved above some of the retarded questions of the past and the future looks nothing but bright." next we will address the challeges spelling seems to have become.
The house is a placce to lay my head, eat my meals and visit with family. I have never had a house I missed. But, when I think of my parent's home, grandparent's homes and my Aunt Nell's home, I can get quite melancholy.
I under stand, I should have used the, I will use more fore thought in the future. But I still like my house.
I put 18 months of every waking hour, besides my job, building my house. I did just about everything from design to furnishing. The only things I sub'ed out was the septic system, HVAC, drywall and carpets. I basically did everything else from trenching and laying plumbing, framing, wiring, painting, trimming and installing fixtures. Couple that with the fact the I sit on 40 acres of land w. my closest neighbor being about a half mile away, I'm attached and have absolutely no desire to ever sell that house. Perhaps time will change that, but I doubt it.
I am partially attached to our house simply b/c it was mine and my wife's first home. We have done quite a bit a work to it plus raised our first child to 4 years old. However now we are looking at $30k worth of foundation issues so needless to say I am ready to bolt lol.....
I think I'd be more attached to the idea of not having to move rather than the house itself. Everything has a price though, just a matter of how much yours is.
