They don't care. Most streets in my neighborhood have a few houses with archery targets in the yard. There's also a large field mowed/maintained by the hoa close to my house and lots of folks take targets down there and shoot. You won't get any odd looks around here for flinging arrows.

I have been known to shoot from my roof, and at our old house I had ladder stand in the back yard. Again, nothing odd about that in Kentucky.

One day the guy next door looked over the fence to see what was going on and he looked down to see a straw bail with 10 arrows sticking out of it. And to my knowledge he has not poked his head back over the fence

No neighbors behind my house but the guys who owns the land will be working on the land once in a while. I will not shoot if he is working his land. Also neighbors on the side are retired divorced guys who couldn't care less. However if they are in the back i am respectful. I made a nice target with a backstop.

I live on a cul de sac and have about 40ac woods behind the target/downs range.

Neighbor on 1 side used to shoot with me. Neighbor on other side is from California and though she's never said anything, I don't think she approves.

The neighbor behind me, I was never sure of...they came outside one day with their very young daughter and I said, "let me put this away, so you don't have to even worry". Their reaction was great. They noted how my range was oriented, my proficiency and thoughtfulness and effectively told me 'we're not concerned, have at it'.

    Work's for me...

Where I live on Long Island, its illegal to shoot my bow in my yard. I would have the cops knocking at my door in about 5 seconds flat, then get arrested for the discharge of a deadly weapon!! I have more people on my street than most of you have in your whole town!! I`ll

I don't have neighbors close enough to worry. The direction I shoot my bow has no one for miles.

But, when people go down the road - the usually honk or wave.

I can shoot 30 yards in my back yard and elevated off my back deck. I live in a dense neighborhood. No One has said anything yet. The nearest house that could possibly be hit is 150 yards away. But, from the deck, I am always shooting down. I shot standing in the front yard and aiming towards the back of my property last week. It was the first time I have done that. The neighborhood kids watched. No parents have said anything so I assume no one cares.

. Haha yea. We are renting right now. But we are looking to buy a nice chuck of land just outside of town. We are going to try and open a archery range once we move. There aren't any ranges for about 20 miles and there are lots of bow hunters around here.

Closest neighbor is almost a half mile away, so no problems for me. I don't know if they care for me target shooting with the AR, but those are the benefits to living in the country.

Population here is "10,000" but I would say it is actually less than half that number full time residence. The majority of the homes are vacation homes.

We live at the end of a half mile long dead end road and the closest nieghbors are 3/4 of a mile away.
I can shoot as far as I want to.

Recently bought in a town of 124 and my neighbor 2 houses down has a big 4x4 target he made out of old newspaper and have been shooting at his since I got my first bow so I'm guessing the neighbors won't care if I set my target up in my backyard. Have a big hill as a backstop with no houses beyond it

There is only one house next door and she died this last year so nobody is there to complain. But I still only have shot a couple times and just a quick set of 3 to double check my sight before heading out for a hunt.

    Why is that?
Never mind, I now see your explanation.

I shoot down the side of my house to the back yard. It's a bit tight and only 20yrds, but that's good enough. In 30+ years of shooting, I haven't had anybody question it yet. I honestly don't even know if it's legal in my borough, but I've done it for so long without issue I really don't care. I will say that I shoot very early in the morning, before most folks have gotten up. So I really do keep it low keyed. I don't want to test the water!

I mentioned it was tight, so I took this pic to show just how tight. That target sits on a plastic milk crate when I'm shooting. My truck was in the driveway behind me, so I wasn't at 20yrds for the pic. You've GOT to be dialed in to shoot at my place. lol

Thats a bummer. I am in a town and it goes by county code. The code would prevent me from being able to shoot if i dont have written permission from anyone within 150 yards. BUT!! the sheriff is a bow hunter and he has a mathews monster. So he doesnt ask me to stop. he has stopped to check out my bow once before. other than that I just wave to him whenever he drives by.
