Somebody tell me about crimson clover. One of my brassica plots from last year is growing a pretty good crop of crimson and i beleive im going to leave it and reseed the areas that our thin.
No seriously if I had ranch dressing or some zesty italian dressing and croutons I would feed there for a while.
You realize crimson clover is an annual crop right? It can reseed if you mow it but from what I have seen, it is rarely as good a stand as drilled (or sown).
Well things were just starting to dry up and I was hoping to plant this weekend. No such luck. Last night we got 0.5-0.75" of rain. Another 2" predicted over the next few days. Looks like spring planting is not going to happen this year. Takes at least 2 weeks of dry weather to dry out enough. I'll take some pictures of the standing water this weekend but I'll have to walk back there as I won't be able to drive the UTV I'm guessing.
I hear that brother. Same here...I get about two days when it's finally dry enough to get across entire fields and that night we get another two inches of rain. It's frustrating as hell.
got up to the land to spray and do some more planting. Was pleasantly surprised that the .25 acre bean field was looking good and had not been browsed at all a month after planting. Milorganite seems to be doing its job... hopefully that continues. Planted some more corn and beans in the spots that finally had dried out.
I have to get up to the plot to spray and weed today have kinda neglected it. I am a little disappointed the chickory I frost seeded seems to not have taken. I do plan on tilling in some strips later this summer and planting some winter peas.
I finally got around to checking on the clover I frost seeded. I must say I was pleasantly surprised, it looked pretty good. I'm hoping to get back and spray it in the next week or two.
Did alot of spraying, overseeding and mowing my clover plots last week. Havnt checked the results yet. Ill update when i do. Sprayed my 2 new plots with round up. Gotta get them all cleaned up soon so i can plant by July 1.
Both of out bean plots at our place are doing very well so far. Went to plant at the in-laws but it was too wet. Wait for another weekend.
First picture is my clover/chicory plot planted on May 18th. Not doing so hot. Rain drowned it out i believe. Second picture is the same mix i planted on April 25th. Coming in pretty good, grasses are popping up kinda heavy though. Third picture is a clover plot we planted last year. This year weve mowed it 3x, sprayed grass out, sprayed 24db and reseeded. We need hot sunny days! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
