Brussel sprouts are best dug out of the snow.

I was blessed with two kids who favorite foods are cabbage brussel sprouts broccoli cauliflower and carrots. They love vegetables. Our daughter eats bell peppers like apples!

I use to use row covers, Proteknet "Biothrips", on a lot of my brassicas.

Brussel sprouts, homegrown, are just about heaven on earth. In Oklahoma we have to fall plant most all brassicas bc our spring warm up happens so quick they bolt. So @Sota has made a great point, best brussel sprouts are picked in late December. I used to plant broccoli varieties that were well known for producing side shoots throughout the winter, freaking delicious.

That was my dads advice from the greenhouse he said you can buy nets that allow sunlight through and rain through that will keep those moths away.

When my organic garden was in full swing I figured out real quick based on the size of the garden buying those materials like row covers while expensive initially saved me a lot of money and headaches in the long run. Take good care of those materials and they will last for multiple seasons and keep you from spraying all that high dollar organic pesticides. The other bonus on row covers, you release ladybugs, green lacewings and mantises they are concentrated and breeding right were you want them.

If you look in the background you can see one of two of our greenhouses. It’s a nice short walk across the alley to see all kinds of flowers and veggies and feel the 70s degrees warmth of the greenhouse. It’s awesome this time of year to go in there and just smell the fresh dirt and moisture and it really excites us for spring!

When I told you a couple of days ago that my garden was finally snow free, well....

    turns out that I lied.

We got 10" of poor man's fertilizer overnight!

Fresh cut flowers from my daughters birthday last week. Just put a fresh cut on the bottom of the stems and I bet they just as good next week as well.. did I mention we own a Flowershop that is attached to the greenhouse and garden center. With proper care fresh cut flowers will last weeks if not a month.
