Even back in the jay when it was illegal the sherriff didnt hate me, so long as him got his cut. There is the way the world appears to work and the way it really works is what he would say to me as I handed him a couple grand.
If anyone grows celery do not Blanche it. Do not wrap it in newspaper or use anything to hold it together and upright. I suggest growing it in the lowest part of the garden. I dig a trench one foot deep and plant it in the bottom of the trench about 1.5 feet apart from each other maybe 2 feet. It is water loving let the garden drain into the trench and keep them watered.. as a plant it should grow upright. If it is drooping it isn’t wet enough. I grow some of the best celery you would ever eat crisp and absolutely full of water. Try it you would be surprised. I even have my grandma and many old time garden pros asking me how I grow it, feels good being 31 and having lifetime gardeners asking me how it’s done at morning coffee hour!!!
I have, their is not a tomato out there that I probably havent grown. I like park's whopper but they tend to totally shut down in july and august here in Oklahoma and never really recover. Our overnight and daytime temps just keep them from flowering. It's pretty much a determinate here. I grew the Big Beef Hybrids last year and had them shade clothed during July and August and was able to get them to set and produce into the fall. I freaking love tomatoes fresh from the garden.
According to Guy Clark. There is only two things in the world money cant buy, homegrown tomatoes and true love..
Dukes mayo. No substitute. Cant get on board with the miracle whip on anything, but that's just me. I've eaten my fair share of mater sammiches and it's something I look forward to every year. I go to the garden and tell the tomatoes to hurry up like every day. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Went to make a ham sandwich yesterday and was out of mayo.. used some miracle whip, worst ham sandwich of my life.
However a person likes it anyone know of a home remedy to keep moths away from Brussel sprouts. I know of chemicals but my gardens never been introduced to chemical or fertilizer. Here in northeast North Dakota in the red river valley we are blessed with about 3 feet of the richest black dirt on earth
I haven't fried bacon in years. I have a cast iron ribbed pan and it gets baked at 400 until nice and crispy no greas. also use ceramic ribbed dishes. holds it up out of grease cooks even.
I've been hauling cut ash logs to garden for raised beds and I took all the 6x6 support bracing off the old pasture fencing. the 6x6 have blue bird houses but I now have 12 4x6 5ft poles to put in for the green house. Yours looks good Oakiebob. I need a bit bigger so the panels will sit on 3 ft walls. this will allow head space for a 12ft wide by 16ft long hoop house Also framing so I can put in bottom venting and have the 2 end top vents, better air flow. Just finished salad seed planting and even though its 30 the brassica are out on deck to start hardening off. Sunny and they have been out a couple of times already. All my potted garlic is up and growing. Onion seed planted and a tray of collards. No tomato, peppers yet but eggplant is started. Have celery from last year and will start another plant today, cut bottoms from store plants. I also have two whole bulbs of garlic started like that. those I will divide and direct plant in a few weeks. I am planting spinach for trans plants this year too see how that goes.peas will direct seed in another week.. got holes to dig and frost seeding to do .....
Thanks for reminding me that my grandmother died without ever making me mayo Bob, 6:38am and now I am going to start drinking.
When it comes to cabbage loopers and moths I use Spinosad. Easy to find organic and it's a biological so it will only effect those that eat on the plant. Or Dipel dust.
