I have been practicing with field points that got at the pro shop where I have my bow serviced. I thought everything was dialed in for the opening weekend until, out of curiosity I replaced one of the field points with a 100 grain shockwave. Every shot was about 4 inches low. I instantly weighed the field points and they were consistently 89 grains. Is the weight difference enough to change the trajectory so drastically?
Probably has more to do with the fact that the broadheads are longer than the field points. This would change the balance of the arrow. Blessings...........Pastorjim
10 grain difference isn't much. would expect it to be something else. but what distance are you shooting at?
The group below is at 40 yards and there is roughly a 15 grain difference between my practice arrows and hunting arrows all in the same group. There are arrows with regular pin nocks and field points, as well as arrows with Nockturnals and Killzones in this group which is what's causing the weight difference. Tough to tell from the angle of the pic, but that group is a bit bigger than a golf ball. 11 grains isn't going to matter at 25 yards.
Well guys you will be happy to know that I took the majority's advice and had my bow tuned. The end result was placing 6 arrows in a 3x3 sticky note from 25 yards with the killzone (COC), gold tip arrows, and Nockturnals, that I use in the field. It's go time! Bowhunt or Die!
