Very sorry to hear this news today. My thoughts are with you and yours Scott.

A furnace fire can be a scary thing. Many times mice cause them.. and there is almost nothing you can do to prevent it.

Just a little update (trying save Scott the hassle of posting from the phone)... Obviously as Scott stated the fire was pretty bad and pretty much everything in the house has severe smoke damage. He said his wife's phone makes a robot noise every time she gets an email and that she was getting a lot of emails last night. Neither of them were sleeping well, which may have been a blessing in disguise. Mrs. Buckeye heard the electrical lines arcing, woke up Scott and they evacuated. Tomorrow they start rebuilding (figuratively)...

On a high note, Scott did mention that all the deer mounts were okay... they just had a little extra soot on them, to which he stated "When they clean those things, they better be perfect!" :D

A situation like this will test anyone's head and heart... Scott has plenty of both.

Glad ya'll are alright buddy! :D

Sorry to hear about your house, but it is a good thing Mrs. Buckeye got you up and everyone is safe. Like everyone else said if there is a way we can help let us know.

Scott let me know if you need any help. My in-laws went through this 2 years ago. If you need help with Insurance Co and how that all works let us know.

Scott, I just came across this thread and I am sorry you all have to go through this. Yes, material things can be replaced and thank God you are all safe, but I am sure there are a lot of good memories like pictures, kid's first OSU jersey, or whatever that I am sure were lost and I feel for you. I sure hope that you are able to keep a positive attitude through this tough time. Sometimes that is the best gift a man can give to his family. You are in my prayers.

House fires suck... we had one when I was a kid.

It started in the hallway wall, right next to the thermostat. As the temperature rose, the AC kicked on and spread smoke, soot and hot embers into every room in the house. We pretty much had to rebuild the entire house. Luckily nobody was home at the time, the neighbors saw the smoke and reported it.

Just last year, I was getting ready to leave for work and I noticed a bunch of smoke pouring out of the whirlybird on the roof of the house across the street. I stood there for a second trying to figure out if it was smoke or steam as it was quite cold that morning. The wind changed directions and I smelled "THAT" smell... I ran across the street and started banging on the door. The young lady that lived there didn't smell the smoke and woke up when I started raising hell in the front yard. She burned her feet and hands up pretty bad when she slipped while running across the ceramic tile in the living room.

That was some scary stuff for sure.
