Sorry to hear about your fire and glad that everyone got out ok. Hopefully you have good insurance and the construction is quick and painless. I'm a contractor who deals with house fires quite a bit in the wintertime so feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Damn Scott...that really sucks. When I was wee little guy my father lost everything in a house fire. Definatly is a bad deal!! Glad you and the family made it out safe. That is all that matters. Houses can be rebuilt, possesions can be replaced but the irreplaceable items made it out safe!!

Let me know if there is anything I can do for you!!

I have plenty of outlets for some Illini apparral aournd here that I can hook you up with.

I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I went through that a few years ago, lost alot of stuff, but no one was injured (wife and I were both at work at the time). Things can be replaced, just good you and your family made it out.

First, I would like to thank you all for your thoughts, well wishes and prayers. I am not going to be able to reply to everyone as I am posting this from my phone.

Damage was fairly extensive. Haven't met with the state farm adjuster yet, that will be tomorrow morning. The fire chief estimated damages at 150000 in his fire report. The fire started somewhere in the cold air return and spread from there. I will find out more tomorrow.

The smoke damage was pretty bad. I bet most of our belongings will end up in a landfill.

Thanks for all of the offers of help. We may be having a rough time, by there are a lot of people out there much worse off than us. We may not be able to move back into our home for 8 months, but we will be OK.

BTW, we are staying in a holiday inn express for the next few nights....

Scott, can't tell you how I feel for you. Holiday Inn Express isn't what you planned on for the boy's first Christmas, but with that kind of damage, you have to feel fortunate to have gotten out safe. Fires suck, esp in the winter. My best friend went through it two years ago and the business that I work at burned down in 03. Make sure that you stay on the insurance company's ass. It's terrible what you (the victim) sometimes has to go through. If we need to organize a weekend work day, we will. I'm betting I can pick up a van load on my way across PA.
