I went out early yesterday morning and had 3 birds on my place. One of them must have gobbled a hundred times on the roost from 6:30 till 7:00. He would sound off at any noise in the woods. He flew down and gobbled a few more times and shut up for the day. Then I heard 2 birds gobble just before sundown when they flew up to roost. Lots of scratching in the woods too.
I'm not sure how it is in SC but in GA season runs from Mar 21-May 15 and TN is Mar 28-May 10 EDIT: Oh yeah GA allows 3 gobblers with no daily limit and TN in the spring allows 4 gobblers no more then one a day
SC's season runs from March 15th-May 1st. But in the part of the state I live in it is April 1st - May 1st. The limit is 5 birds total two a day. No Hens the bird just has to have a visible beard....but I stopped shooting jakes awhile back....but after I kill the first one w/ "Mr. Cotton" (shotgun named after my deceased Father in Law), I'm going to the bow and I'm stickin anything I can. (legal of course) SB
