It's been nearly three weeks since I've been in the woods. With gun season now coming to a close I'm ready to get back into the swing of it. I rented a cabin that sits on 135+/- acres for the entire week. My girlfriend, my puppy, and I are all going to spend the week in the wilderness! I used the word "vacation" as a ploy to get my sweetie on board, and it worked!! lol... (next year I'm going to convince her that filming my hunts are fun!..)

It looks to be a fairly good chance to see some deer. A couple gun hunters, father and son, rented this cabin last week, and saw several "legal" bucks (4 point on one side restriction), but passed on them hoping for something bigger. With no wind and highs in the 40s-low 50s I'm hoping to see some decent movement.

I have yet to go to the property, so I'll be using the first morning to scout it out a bit, and hopefully I'll find a location to take a stand to by late morning so I can get some evening hunting in. It's rainy and cold Monday, which could make for a decent sit provided it's bareable (just bought some rain gear on black friday!)

I haven't killed a deer in over ten years(haven't hunted during that period), and this season has been filled with ups and downs so far. I'm just hoping to put some meat in the freezer, but tagging something worth putting on the wall would be excellent as well.

If nothing else it'll be nice to spend some time in the woods with my girlfriend, taking pictures and hiking, etc. Plus I'll get some time in the woods to reflect on the past couple weeks of stress and get back to a Zen state of living.

I wish everyone a fun, productive, and safe week/weekend! I'll post pictures when I get back, and hopefully some will have a deer in them!

Weather looks great, but they've recently changed the wind... now looking to 15mph winds for Mon and Tue... but 9mph for Wed and 4mph for Thurs.... Chance of flurries on Tuesday... Wind doesn't scare me too bad considering I've hunted in 20 mph winds this year already... either way... I'm hopeful
