With first light being up for awhile - hope you're on your way to finding your deer. Best of luck. I enjoy reading these threads and learning from them.
No success, couldnt fine arrow(which I'm pretty sure he took with him) blood, or buck. So disgusted. It was a perfect scenario that ended poorly. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Its too soon for it to be over. Get out there again and keep looking. Take a buddy and take your time. Check the last spot you saw him then start walking circles in that area going wider each time until you find blood. Once you find blood you can start the track job. You owe it to the animal to keep looking.
THIS^^^^ Also if you are allowed to use dogs DO IT!!!! Alot of the time they can track with minimal or what seems like no blood. Well worth it.
No buddies, my bro inlaw was supposed to help but he backed out. I searched for three hours, cant find a single drop of blood. Dont have dogs to use either. At this point time is not on my side. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Forget blood if you can't find it. Go to water sources, bedding areas, thick cover. Anywhere a deer could find safe harbor after a massive injury. If that turns nothing up just walk the woods. Soon you'll smell it. Look for vultures or go to coyotes howling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I wasnt' asking if you had dogs to use I was asking if legal? If it is seek one out, tons of recoveries are thanks to them.
3 hours is NO WHERE near enough time to spend looking for a deer you shot whether it was a giant buck or a small doe fawn. You owe it to the animal to look much more than that. If time is not on your side now you need to get back out there tonight to look some more. If I sound like an a hole...good I meant too! If 3 hours is all your willing to spend looking for an animal you should throw your tag in the trash.
Unfortunately I have family duties to throw into the mix. I cant just drop life and go look for a deer. My wife is already upset that I took the day off to go searching. The place is almost an hour away, and the kids cant pick themselves up from school and daycare! Besides that, the area is just too large for me to cover by myself. The one person I have to count on let me down so, I was out there alone to the point of exhaustion. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Unfortunately, it is part of the sport. Family or not - searching for an animal you kill is your obligation to the sport (or whatever you want to call it). I understand it can be exhausting, and you very well may be. But, you chose to shoot a deer, you must try harder to find it. It's not called hunting for it just to die in plain sight, though, that would be great. You have to work for it, from beginning to end. I'm sorry your wife does not understand this either. Not trying to start anything with you. I'm glad you at least attempted to find it. But I feel more must be done. I'm sure there are people in your area who would be willing to help...you just need to ask around.
As everyone else has said... You need to find time to get back out there and look for that deer again. Help or no help. You should have no one to "count on" but yourself when looking for a deer that YOU shot. Sounds like you're making an excuse... Sorry to be a hard *** but I, like the others, feel you need to get back out there and keep looking.
Sure, come watch my two younf children, feed them dinner, help my 6 yr old out with his homework, and I'll go right back to searching. I'm not happy I cant go back out. But I have to live with it. So stop judging!!! Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Not judging when we're just saying what needs to be done (it's an obligation when you shoot an animal) - and honestly if I were around - I would offer to watch children and get them going for the night. Not a big deal.
No judgement placed on you for being a good father brother, we are questioning somewhat the decision to hunt if time cannot be spent to find an animal? Post where you are from, one thing I've learned is many guys on this site will come help others here if needed...it is worth a shot. As is calling in a dog tracker.
Not judging by any means... At least find time to go out and look again at a later date. Spoiled meat or not you will still get the horns and you owe it to that animal you shot.
