I finally broke down and used some bass pro shops rewards points to buy myself the hooeyman 10 ft extendable pole saw. After trimming out 1 new set and some broken limbs around the house, I've decided I love this thing!

Some specs on it: retracts to 28 inches and extends to 10 feet making versatile to use from the ground or in your stand and it carries well in my hunting pack. The handle is constructed of I-beam tubular aluminum giving it an overall light carrying weight, but extremely rigid tough feel at full extension. The blade just eats up whatever it touches. I've gone through oak, hedge, cotton wood, and sycamore limbs without any issues. The blade actually detaches from the main body of the saw and can be carried in a pack as a hand saw which is another good feature. I'm 6'4" and at full extension I'm able to reach limbs at the 18 foot mark giving me plenty of range to clear limbs for shooting lanes.

I was hesitant to spend the 89$ on a tree saw, and held off for the last 6 months, but I'm sure happy with what I got. My overall impression is that this saw has great versatility in terms of retraction and extension, tough and rigid aluminum pole yet a light carry weight, and a sharp stainless head that handles varying degrees of hard and soft woods well. I hope this helps anyone hesitant on which saw to purchase.

I got one too for Christmas. I've used it just playing around. The blade is very sharp and rigid so it doesn't fold over.
It packs up nice and straps right to my stand. Plus it's very light.

Best saw made. Works great for clearing lanes. I have the 10 foot version and it is perfect for trimming.

If you are talking extendable saws I totally agree. I have the 5' model and it does a great job. If you are just talking a hand saw you won't find a better one then the Wicked saw. Hands down that is the sturdiest, most durable saw on the market.

I had one, busted inside the first 6 months. I think it's pretty cheaply made. Won't buy another.

Own one and it is, IMHO, the BEST "pack saw" ever made. but then again....who am I to make such a bold statement?

I bought one at our local bass pro back in February when that warm speel came through and have loved it ever since. I just have the 5' model but I have taken out anything from limbs to smaller trees by hand with this thing and it is still doin' work!

I have some issues with the connection bosses between the two pieces on my 5 footer but overall I love it.

I had a similar issue. One of the locking mechanism broke on the 3rd use a week into deer season. I contacted the manufacturer and they wanted me to send it to them for a replacement instead of just sending me a new handle. I ended up just taking it back to Cabelas for a refund.

when they are fully extended are they really flimsy or some thing, because i would imagine it would get all flexible.

No they are not at all. Only problem I have had and really heard of is the connection between the handle and extension pole. They dont hold very well.

I'll agree with Jfergus7, this saw stays very rigid even when extended out to the full 10 ft. I've trimmed out 5 trees for sets to be hung later in June and taken out between 25-30 branches at our house and the saw is still going strong. It eats up everything from small shoots to limbs about 5-6 inches in diameter. I haven't tried cutting anything bigger with it yet. So far my head hasn't started to get loose from the pole.
