I gotta get out this weekend. I'm going through withdrawal. Haven't been in the woods in a couple weeks. Gonna hunt Sunday with the girlfriend, then Monday I'll be hitting up one of the spots on public land I have picked out. Had an encounter with a fork horn there last season. Hoping he may still be in the area and added some bone to his noggin.

Thanks! I'm gonna try to focus on one of the 3-4 good bucks I have at the house. Just gotta catch one of them and get a shot at it.

Thanks buddy! I should have hunted this morning. Just wore out of hunting every morning and evening the past week. My vacation is over next Tuesday....back to work. :( Suppose to rain all day tomorrow, which stinks. Gonna hunt all I can though. It's open till the first weekend in Jan. Still have time to hopefully get a chance on one of my good bucks.

Hello Teammates, I'm hitting the woods again in the morning. That is till the Thunder Storms hit. Hopefully they will hold off until around 9:00. Going to try to take one of the 4 good bucks I have hanging around. The biggest is maybe 120" at best. Which is a great deer for here. The Tennessee state record is only like 183".

Quick story some of you might enjoy! I have a neighbor about a mile away that is retired. He ask me about 4 years ago could he bring his Grandson, which at the time was 14. Of Course I said yes, I might not let many folks hunt on me. When it comes to the juvenile weekend though, I'm all for kids hunting. I will only let two at a time come since 181 acres isn't a huge amount of land for more than that. Anyway, about 10:00am that Saturday morning the old fellow knocks on my door. Say's my grandson shot a buck, we have waited over an hour to get down. Found blood, but wanted me to help track it. So I put some clothes on and go with them. On the way I ask him was it a good shot, and was it big? The old man says, I'm not trophy hunter but I think it was a dandy buck. If we find it i'll mount the whole deer for him...lol. I was thinking to myself, I don't have any bucks worthy of a full body mount...lol. Well the poor kid was so excited it was funny.... Don't blame the kid! Made me very happy as well. Ok, on to the tracking. The kid was so excited I think when he seen brown he fired with his 30-30. The buck did travel a ways. They were a distance behind me when I found it. To say the least, I almost cried with the boy....lol. I could not believe my eyes on what I walked up on. I had no pictures of this deer at all. It was a full blown typical 11 point. His grandpa did have it measured by the taxidermist. It came in at 160" or something around that...can't remember the exacts. One is for sure, ole papa got a full body mount...lol. Next time I'm over at their place I'll take a pic for you all. I didn't ask what it cost....but i'm sure it wasn't cheap. I think that was one of the happiest days I can remember being in the woods. Even though I wasn't on the hunt with them, but one thing I haven't forget....is the huge hug and thank you the boy gave me for letting him hunt. Even though I didn't have much to do with it...still made me feel good.

I'll try to stop buy there one evening after work. They did a good job, well I guess..lol. It's the only one i've ever seen. My guess is the buck was about 4.5 or so. Not sure where he came from, but I wasn't bothered one bit that I didn't get him. That kid was more happier that I would have been. Being it was his first deer too.

Good stuff Bootlegger !!! !Can't wait to see the pictures .

We usually find a youth hunter needing a place to hunt ourselves . Got one coming from Kansas City this year to camp in our driveway for the Nov. 1rst and 2nd youth season .

Me and my son who is 6 will be out this evening in a blind. This will be his first bow hunt with me. He has been rifle hunting with me for 2 years. They are always my favorite hunts of the year.

Good luck Mo Bow , sounds like you've got a hunter in the making !!

I swapped my work schedule around and plan on being out there this evening also . It's been a great day so far , now if I can make an old buck have a bad day ..... it will turn awesome :)

Not really deer hunting related but he will extend my youth hunting seasons . Just got an email forwarded to me that claims we will get to adopt the 4 year old boy that has been living with us for 2 years , uncontested
His older sister has lived with us for over 12 year and we finally adopted her a couple of years ago . We've been trying to get her brother adopted every since the chance to do so has arose, we're just about there ........ come on Nov. 3rd :)

Well me and the boy went out last night and because I had to wait for him to get out of school we didn't get to the farm until 4 and as we approached the food plot there were 3 does out in the field eating my brassicas. We had to try and put a move on them because it was raining and I needed to get little man in the blind. We got busted. Then at 6:30 my number 1 buck slipped past us not presenting a shot he is a big wide 8 at least 4 yrs old. Great night. Bonus I now know where he sleeps and there is only one way in and one way out. Gonna put a move on him this week before the pre rut starts to effect his pattern.
