Yeah same here between the lease and ohio I feel like i have a good shot but not gonna jinx myself. Saturday and sunday evening I will be sitting on a green plot trying to catch turkey foot coming out of the corn going to the wood lot on the north to get acorns. Guy in ohio called me the other night to let me know he seen the two 10pts again in the same spot.
But yes this is probably the most active team I have been with and its nice.

Well guys, I got off work a little early today. So I jumped in the shower and headed to my closest stand. I had about 1.5 hrs of daylight left. I was in the stand about 20 minuted maybe and one of my nice 8 pointers came in. The sad part...I didn't get a shot at him. He came in from behind my stand and didn't notice him until he was right beneath me, well actually about 3 yards in front of my stand facing away. He stood there for a few minuted and then went walking away. I let him get about 20 yards in front and tried to stop him. He did stop but was still facing away. I didn't try to stop him again cause I didn't wanna spook him and then he not give me a shot. Kinda sad, but oh well. I'm hoping to see him again soon. If not, I not bothered. I'm sure some folks might have taken a shot with him under them, but I don't personally feel it was a good shot to take.

Just thought I'd share with you all my evening...lol.

Plenty of season to go. Well done not forcing the shot. He will be back.

Yeah, I've seen people take shots straight down like that...but there not for me. I was actually shocked I seen him that quick. Usually I'm always checking all directions. I think he was just passing through on his way to the corn field for supper...lol.

Good decision not to take the shot. I'm not fond of those kind of shots either and like Mo Bow said, plenty of season to go.

Just seen one spike this evening. It was fun watching him for 30 minutes though.

Had a terrible weekend with all this west wind . Did get out and sit an evening stand but it was a little early in the season for it . I usually don't see anything there till the end of Oct. but it was all I had that would work with the wind .

Did decide that I needed to make some changes so I wouldn't have this problem in the future . Ended up acquiring 320 more acres to hunt and should have several west wind stands soon . Need to get out and do a little observing then I'll move in , little late to go scouting but should be a great property .

The properties that I have been hunting have no place to put a stand for a west wind so that was the only way to fix the problem . Having the only store in a small farming community makes it pretty easy to acquire farms to hunt . I usually just sit at work and have them offered to me but I asked about this one ...... I've heard a lot of big buck stories and the brothers quit hunting a few years ago :D

Quick report from the weekend (opening day). Pretty much rained the whole morning. Had two small periods where it stopped. I don't mind the rain that much however, first sit would have been more comfortable and dry...

Saw three tails just before shooting light, then a single doe on the walk out. Nothing in between. That is not unusual for the big woods I hunt. Felt great getting in the stand with the bow, ready to fling and arrow. Checked the camera on the way out. No buck but, a few doe active during the day. What looked like a yote and some porcupine night shots. My dad had a small 4 pointer walk up to him so, he also got a good start to the season.

Leaves were dropping fast and the woods felt alive.

I just 50 more points up for us. Killed a Doe this morning at 6:30. Just had sit down in my stand and 4 does came in. Shot her at 20 yards. She ran maybe 25 yards.

Looks like we are a pretty good spot right now. I didn't include date/time on my entry so it wasn't included during Fitz's last update, if it was we would be well in the lead right now. I've since updated and Fitz said he would include in his next update.

I'm about 99% certain I'll be able to put another doe down this year guys, I've passed a couple already because I was in some of my better buck stands. I'll keep after it, good luck to the rest of you too!
