Well went out last night and seen a few deer just nothing for me yet . We had put up a new stand and seen a couple decent bucks come out on the south side of another stand across the field and hope to get my brother a shot at this buck on Saturday . It will be his largest and only his 2nd buck with a bow in 39 years .... he shot his first last year , late bloomer :)

Pulled a bunch of stands off of a lease today , bad deal but it is what it is . Although I hardly ever hunted it there were a lot of people that we allowed to hunt it and I hate that it will affect their season . Hope to find something to fit our needs a little better , soon !!

Not yet , but hopefully... soon . I've had some history with that buck and he'd be 4.5 now . I'll post some picks Sat. if it happens :)

Awesome. Well best of luck to both him and you. I could only wish something of that caliber would walk in front of me.

One day I'll have the land to manage the way I see fit and be hunting bucks like that. I think it would be amazing to have history with specific bucks and have the land and opportunities to let them mature and hunt them when the time is right. I can't wait until I'm able to do those things.

It is nice to have properties that have a lot of good bucks and while this one has my brother twisted in knots , it is considered a cull by those that believe in it around here but I have seen them develop at 5 years old . He does have the start of a couple kickers on him that I wouldn't mind seeing next year .

I tell everyone that I let hunt this farm that they can shoot anything 3.5 or older and this one qualifies . Got to admit that if my brother shoots him , I'll probably be more excited than he will :)

Really thought you might be interested in said history !!
I had watched a 3.5 year old 10 point two years ago . He came out chasing a whole herd of doe and gave me the impression that one of them had to be hot . Try as he may though , he couldn't figure out which one . He finally gave up and exited the field , right past my stand .

Along comes this little 8 point and he starts chasing all the doe around . He managed to chases couple of doe right under my stand and I decided to shoot one of them . After I got done shooting the doe and watching her go down 70 yards out , I looked back out in the field and seen this :)

At 4.5 he's sure not showing the growth that most bucks would have in this area but I'm not sure I really believe in culls .

Yes , we do have and always have had some giant bucks around but that doesn't mean I'm holding out for one . I'm just not ready to settle for another 130" buck just yet . My brother hasn't been a s fortunate in his hunting as I have and thinks this buck is a stud so I'm going to help him out . He's even confessed to having dreams about this buck so I'll be as excited as he is if he puts him down on Saturday .

Yea I'd say 7 of 10 times I go out I see something but if I see a doe with some fawns I'll pass on them. There is a fox I want to shot so freaking bad it's not funny I saw him yesterday too but he was about 80 yards out. I shot at him last year and just and I mean just miss him lol

My mistake , I should have put 130s . I believe that this buck is mid 130s but will admit that the mass could surprise me .

I think the part that throws most on that buck is that although it looks tall , the main beams go up instead of out and the tines are shorter than they appear

I won't shoot a doe with fawns this time of year either but they'll be fair game soon . Sounds like you'll get a few more chances and I hope you get that fox soon !!!

Be extra careful around them dang fox . I heard a story on the radio about one attacking at a school playground yesterday . Them things can be ferocious .
