:eek:That sucks brother. Well at least it didn't snap below the stand and destroy the stand in the process. I hope you can get the location sorted out. Stay positive. I would also be taking extra caution when selecting another tree as to make sure no damage was done it that tree. Especially for damaged limbs above that may eventually fall. I'm sure you'll be safe and check, just a friendly reminder. ;)

Wasn't sure how much rain they got but my oldest daughter works for Kirksville PD and was called in at 3am cause of suspected tornadoes in the area . Guess they lost a couple of homes up there but I haven't heard to much about it .

When the water recedes , don't be surprised if it takes the deer a couple of weeks to get back to normal . We hunt some property on the north side of Fountain Grove (Grand River bottoms) and every time it floods during deer season , it takes 2-3 weeks before everything is back to normal .

Yeah I'm real happy that it didn't take out the stand has that happen last year, not only took out one but both since it was a double set. There is a tree right next to it but not sure if I will be able to find a straight enough spot for a double set to fit. I'll keep a eye to make sure it's safe. Thank you for the concern though don't need the season ending before it starts.
Sounds like the storm hit you guys wayyyy worse then here. They where calling for severe thunderstorms and hail but we just for rain for about 5 hours so nothing bad at all. Maybe a couple inches of rain total.

I know what you mean. This week/ weekend would be the perfect cold front for a early season hunt.

That and the fact that I hunt some high ground that is surrounded by flooded bottom ground ...... I'd probably just end up regretting ending my season this early :)

Thanks buddy just wanted to let you guys know what was going on and that I'm still here Lol. Yea my 3 year old dropped my bow down the basement steps, I kinda saw it like bounces on the bottom cam up and down I think that's how it cracked it but Lucky me for once the guys at the pro shop fixed it for nothing so that was nice and my son is not even aloud to look at it anymore Lol

Well fellas...today we had to mow some trails and over seed some failed plots so did a card pull. Got undeniable confirmation that our #1 buck fromt he last 2 years is alive and well going into the season here in a couple weeks. He is at minimum 5 1/2 of not 6 or 7 by now....oh to put an arrow in him.

Well yesterday was my opener...after two back to back late nights from football I had nothing ready. So ended up not going out yesterday. Just went and grabbed my card, looks like I missed......nothing yesterday.

From the reports I've been getting locally there seems to be a huge acorn crop, so maybe that's what's up.

The area I'm hunting tomorrow is in a huge amount of White Oaks. It's actually off of a road called White Oak dr. Haha. From the trail cam pics I've had it seems the does are frequenting the area regularly both at night and during shooting hours. I'm hoping one follows the script and offers me a shot tomorrow. Time to fill the freezer. ;)

Alright, your a ...... just kidding . Lot of people don't like snakes, ain't nothing wrong with that . I was the kid that always got in trouble for bringing them home and wanting to keep them .

Not to eager to hit the woods either . Really thinking that I way overhunted a lot of my stands last year and this year I'm making some changes . Rather than hunting every chance that I get I'm just going to hunt the best chances that I have (perfect wind , thermals , right before a rain .... for my questionable stands) .

Hope my hunting with a bow goes a lot better for me than the hunting with a camera that I've been trying to do . I've seen a lot of good bucks the last week or so , just haven't been able to take a picture of one of them . They've either been way to close to the road and bolted or I've seen them just as they were exiting the bean field .

Seen this guy tonight but again no pic . Took this one last year and have one of him at 3.5 somewhere . He was pretty close to the road at the end of one of my bean fields .... think I've got a game plan for him this year .
