The attached links, are all for the same town, nearest to the land I hunt on. I am all prepared to go tomorrow, but I want some honest opinions if it would be worth my time. This is how I am set up. There is a large patch of Pines that I am in. I am on the west side, middle, of the pines, about 40 yards inset. Wind really doesn't get to me. My figuring for this is that the deer will be bedding down in here, and walking around on the down wind side of this, if they choose to move throughout the day. The whole square of pines is appox. 10-15 acres/sq. So I do have some sufficient wind blockage to my rear (east). Three weather reports, and three different ones at that. They all say about the same thing, but they can't get there numbers right. PS< in another post, i mention that all three were way off this morning. I doubt this will be too far off, judging by the fronts moving in. http://www.accuweather.com/radar-state.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=1&site=MN_&type=24HR&anim=0&level=state&large=0 http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Santiago&state=MN&site=MPX&textField1=45.4514&textField2=-93.8338&e=0 http://www.weather.com/weather/local/USMN0672?lswe=Santiago,%20MN&from=searchbox_localwx Think this would be a waste of time? I really don't have much time left for hunting. I might be able to go a couple mornings next week, but you just never know on that. I really want honest opinions, maybe I am looking for someone to back me up on my choice to go.
The V word does not enter my house. It's all about the Wild. indeed they both are horrible this year, but I can't stand MN sports teams. We got nothing. The Wild are our best. Well, they were last year. This year they just realized they were in MN, and thought they would help the rest of the pro teams not look like such loosers. I'm going saturday. I can't get one straight answer from any weather forcast. Its a winter storm watch, with anywhere from 2 to 5 inches. Thats not a storm. In the Marines, we had to drive to work when it was snowing 1 foot every 3 hours. now that was a freakin storm!
T.I.W. (time in woods) even if you dont see anything at least you did this... just think in about 7 months we'll be itching to get back out there and kicking ourselves for every chance we didnt take oppurtunity of in the past yr.. good luck!
Did you see anything? I went out in the morning and afternoon. I was amazed how many joggers and hikers were out. They sounded like crunchy freight trains going down the trails on the half inch of snow covered by an inch of ice. Not surprisingly I saw no deer. It was a beautiful day tho'. Vikings lost. Now I'm just rooting against Franken.
