Ok, here we go. I am going to ask what draw weighg I will need to hunt feral swine? And please be honest. This is not a masculinity post about how much g ou can handle. I have had my bow at 70#, but my shoulder is paying for it. I have thought about reducing it to 60#. With quality arrows and broadheads, don't you feel this will do the trick? I would like to save my shoulder so I can shoot for many more years to come. Does anyone else hunt swine and deer with a 60# bow? Also, what is the longest kill you have made with that setup? I can make the 60 yard shot, just wondsring about the kinetic energy at that range with the 60#.

Yes you should drop your poundage to 60# unless your hunting rhino. I hunt with 58# and have never had an issue with kinetic energy. Shooting a bow should be enjoyable and its better to hunt with a lower pound bow you can shoot well than a higher pound bow you may struggle with.

Thanks guys. That makes me feel loads better. I have a great new bow and it will make that long shot. I just needed that reassurance that it will be effective too.

I had a pass through on a big whitetail last year with 55#. I have moved up to 60# just to get a little more speed. 60 is fine...I'd shoot a Ramcat on the hog though...

I've killed over 20 mature hogs shooting 58 lbs with Muzzy 100 gr broad heads. Many were pass throughs. Good luck.

I hunt with 57lb and do fine. But with hogs, I personally like to use fixed cut on contact blades to get maximum penitration. and im sure with 65lb, you could use machanical all day long with hogs. Good luck man

I got a clean pass through on a pig when my bow was at 55lbs with 4 blade muzzy and killed a deer with it at that weight 3 years ago.

I'll never buy another 60-70 lbs pound bow again. 50-60 is plenty for anything I will ever take a shot at!

You can take a hog with a 45# draw if you have a decently weighted arrow and a good cut on contact broad head. Preferably 2 blade. You don't have to be superman just need to be able to put it in the right spot. Good luck!!

Killed a 200#+ boar with a 53# recurve shooting a 525gr cedar arrow tipped with a 125gr Zwickey Eskimo 2 blade...poked two holes in him and had some fine eating pork

I always did 70.....then I got over my pride and went to 63...I can pull smoother, hold longer and ultimately hunt better. :) ENJOY LOWERING IT SOME!
