I am trying to come up with a homemade camera mount that screws into the tree. I have an idea but I wanted to run it by everyone to see if anyone had any better ideas.

I want to buy one of these

And make some sort of platform for a camera mount like this one

Any ideas how to attatch the two? I may be able to fabricate something but I would rather have some type of removable option.

I've got one of those 34" tree arms like you've got and a "gorilla" pod. (the one with the flexible grip arms). It works fine the only issue would be the up/down movement not being as fluid as others. It's good for the left/right movement and I've got some good videos with my setup.

I guess I hadn't thought of that. Just wrap those arms around the arm? If I can't come up with a way to make this work I will be purchasing one of those "gorilla" pods.

yeah the gorilla pod is a tripod so the 3 arms wrapped around make for a pretty tight hold. I've never had any slips or slides.
