i was just wondering if any of you guys know of a way to make homemade liquid deer attractant. ive been doing some experiments with vanilla extract and it seems to do good but it cost alot. if you guys know anything that works better or just as good that is more cost efficient let me know. thanks

My local deer aren't impressed with vanilla.

Grape kool aid. Mixed with water <1:10, can also be mixed with minerals or feed.

    Peanut Butter.

There is also a separate thread on self made scrapes w/ or w/o your own urine.

I've been thinking of dabbling in corn or acorn extracts/essences...so any feedback/experience anybody has with these let me know pm or I'll create a separate thread.

I get vanilla a the dollar store, mix it with corn syrup and salt and poor it over corn. Sure it would work as good if it was on the ground alone.

I buy vanilla also and mix it with canola oils and spray it on plants and leaves to get deer to stop for pics. works very well and the oil keeps the scent for a long time. very cheap

I save the tarsal glands from all deer I kill. In a jar,put the 2 glands and add 4 oz of boiling water then shake(after you replace the lid) Let cool then add 4 oz of glycerin as a presevative. Goes a long way, lasts a long time, cheap and very effective in mock scrapes, scent wicks or as a trailing scent.
