I really like the vertical feeders. Low profile against any tree, I hunt on private property and don't want to put out to much to bother the owners. I think some of these would be perfect.

Only took about 20 mins to make them both with a decent paint job.

Home made deer feeders are good projects but I found I usually end of feeding more coons than deer using the self service feeders. You cam make one with a 4' PVC pipe, cap and bungie cords. Just cut slots in the side, jamb it in the ground and strap it to a tree or fence post. Yes the corn will get wet on the bottom but usually it gets eaten before it molds. If you are looking for volume you can get a trash can. mount it to a small platform to get it off the ground. Drill holes in the side at the bottom about 3" in diameter. Fill it and bungie on the top. that is about the cheapest way to make feeders I have found.

    Slugger,

Have you deployed your feeders yet? I've had mine out for a couple of weeks. The weather hasn't been playing nice with mine. It snowed the day after I put them out, and then both decided to dump more than half all over the ground. One of the batteries was also dead. Fun times. No pics from the first pull….just snow and then 35lbs of corn! I hope to check them this weekend and have something to report.
