If the one i just made doesnt fly right after i get it welded up im probobly just going to buy a pack of the real thing.
I think they will be fine. From my experience gobbler guillotine are dull to begin with! :p Seriously. They won't cut paper.
Can't wait to see this one......caution.....mad scientist at work! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
It should break the turkey's neck if nothing else, we have used blunt tips before and it hits hard enough to break them, so I am sure this will work! Goodluck!
So I played around with this yesterday, my first make followed closely to the OP except I made it more of a collar that would attach under a field point allowing the arrow shaft to nestle into it. P1 was a flop, it was basically the same as P2 but I had used broader blades. It is beefey and strong but mighty heavy. P2 I followed the same path with a smaller blade, it was lighter and actually shot pretty well but still seemed mighty bulky. Then it struck me.... I started P3 today but when I was putting it together I noticed the symmetry was off a bit so I will have to give it another go tomorrow, but you can see where I am going with it I think. It should work quite well I think.
Do you need me to send you a pack of bull heads? They even come with extra blades. You must be very bored. Good thing April 1st is right around the corner heh?
I can't spend my entire work day on the forum... you guys just aren't THAT interesting. But sure go on ahead and send those Bullheads
Haha ill take some bullheads while your at it. Ive been looking at all the stores around here but nobody has them. Turkey season here has already started so i guess ill have to get them online. Do yall like the bullheads or the gobbler guilloting better and what size? Tackelbox those look really nice. What are you using for the blades and how are they attatched? On p3 did you just drill and tap the field point? I tried a design similar to that but it still had notches cut that the blades slipped into then i drilled and tapped a hole through the cuts so i can hold the blades in. My only problem with my first design was holding the blades in. When i mig welded it i dont think it got penetration into the tool steel used for the jigsaw blades i should have tig welded it. On my second design, the one similar to the bullheads i was talking about broke after a few shots.
P1 and P2 I slotted the collar and bonded the blades in place with an aircraft grade flight surface resin. (Epoxy on serious steriods) P3 I recessed the field point to kind of lock the blade into place and drilled and tapped for the screw. P3 seems pretty damn sturdy, think it is a winner personally, but because I love to play I have one other idea to screw with today. As far as ordering... get the Bullheads, Magnus is a great Co.
Im going try to make one similar to the way a muzzy fixed blades. Ill cut notches for the blades to fit in like my first design then thread the outside so a nut can thread down holding them in place. Ill try and post a picture when i get it done.
