Any one ever notice how cops defend even the worst of cops, no matter the situation, and teachers defend their profession like the parting of the red sea was the result of an over worked and grossly under payed teacher?

Lets face it people, every profession has its good, bad and mostly average workers, some parents are great parents other are nothing more than sperm or egg donors, none of us get to choose whom makes up our genetic links so its just the luck of the draw.

Unless you are from West Virginia or maybe Tennessee, I would think public education opens up a whole lot better opportunities for dating .

Oh and I am not for or against it. Just a tiny curious why it is suppose to be better or are they just trying to reinvent the wheel.

Public school here for my kids. Other then a very " few " bad teachers for the most part, I am happy with the education our school provided them. They have had some very good teachers and programs.

Excelling in math at lower standards means what?
Our best students do not compete with the best match students globally. We have had lower standard in the USA compared to the rest of the world for awhile now.

Tough standard are what others have been doing.

Holding schools, parents accountable for their kids education.

Hey if it is better, I am all for it. I see it being a problem for the masses though since we aren't just talking the best students. Now you are talking all students. You have teachers who don't understand it. Britney is helping other students in her class during the day to understand Math that is being taught now. She has their parents calling her at night so they can help their kids do homework.

Wouldn't it be better to offer it for the advanced students to phase it in for junior high or high school ?? I just see a lot of kids and parents pulling their hair out. I am glad all our kids were very smart... I still have all of my hair.

Math is the one subject that we have seen more poor teachers then any other subject with all 3 of our kids over the years. We really do need to do something.

Our lower standards are based on the premise that we can get everyone to score at a high level. That mindset is a broken one and will always hold us back. I'm young enough to have gone through schooling in this newer era of standardized tests and it's a joke for the students at the top of the class. There is zero challenge towards a diploma for academically gifted students.

Yes Tim we do need to get better teachers, others are doing it, why can't we?

Sounds like we have a math teacher at your house.

Maybe you could restart with a new thread on the original topic.
