Wash cloth soaked in bleach or peroxide and make sure you scrub hard enough to get it opened up . If that doesn't dry it out enough you might need to peroxide it a few times over the next couple of days . WARNING this isn't for the faint of heart :)

Good luck , I was in poison oak today and showered when I got home ..... hoping for the best .

If your anything like me and you leave it seeping , it'll make you wanta cry for a couple of weeks left untreated . The way I treat it only hurts for a few minutes after your done but getting it broke open can be a little painful :)

The thing to remember is that the faster you get it to dry up , the faster it goes away .

If its on your face and spreading go to the Dr. or some prompt care clinic.
Get a shot and a dose pack of steroids.

no sense being miserable with it.

Jewel weed is a natural remedy, but I believe it is for removing the oil not treating the blisters. And you are not spreading it. Only the oil can cause a reaction, be sure to bath well and wash all your clothes that you were wearing. If you are very allergic you may need to wipe down your truck with bleach wipes or anything else that was touched by the oil even indirectly. It is not contagious, I usually just let it ride itself out. You can also use hemorrhoid cream. It is a strong steroid that will help with the itching.

Just scrub with a fine brush every so often throughout the day. Eventually all the liquid will seep out.

Sorry man. My nephew is really allergic to that stuff. If you think you are going to be around that crap, take some Benadryl ahead of time. That seems help him avoid getting it.

It seems to me that the all-time best preventative would be to learn what it looks like and avoid it.

I had it earlier this year. I was washing with fels-naptha. You have it on your face tho. I'd head to the Dr. To get a shot. What ever you do you need to dry out out and don't wrap it.

A steroid shot is the best fix.

Best thing for poison ivy is to put on that stuff that kills the poison oils when it comes in contact with the lotion. its like 15$ a bottle and will last you a entire season. well worth it

oh and if you know you got in it when you get home take a shower with dawn dish washing soap. it "cuts through grease" will cut through the oil also.

Tecnu makes both a pre exposure lotion and a cleanser to shower / wash with after suspected exposure.
I have used both several times . Im not completely sold on the pre exposure but believe washing with the cleanser soon after contact works.

Years back you could go to the Dr before getting poison ivy and get a preventive shot . Those worked. But I do not know if they are still available.
There is something out there called Oral Ivy. You put a few drops of it in a glass of water and drink it. Do this a few times and it is to help prevent you from getting poison ivy .
I have never used it but co workers have and say it works.

I have also used a pre exposure lotion called Ivy X. Its made by CoreTex I believe. It is a green aloe gel
I have had great results using the Ivy X and then washing later with the Tecnu cleanser.
